Only twice before has $SPY opened >+0.5% after MLK day (1999 and 2002). Didn't gain >0.3% rest of week either time, FWIW.

Re: prior stats, this would be only 2nd time in past decade that $SPX up on a day the $NDX lost -1.5%. 7/18/08 was the other.

This could be only 3rd time in 10 years $SPX down <0.75% when $NDX down >2.5%. 11/8/07, 10/14/08 were the others.

When $SPY gapped up >1.5% and hit a higher high this late in the morning, it closed < open only 3 of 25 times since '98.
