$JCP M is closing 28 + 1. Brick and mortar is not dead, but the handwriting is on the wall. Fewer stores, more online. We don't see individual store data for JCP, but current fleet clearly isn't working. Time to take a hard look at lagging malls and even regions. If JCP can't make money in 49 states, go to 40 states that are the best. In the process, prune the lowest 10% of stores, and tell the next lowest 10% to shape up or else. Cash in as much real estate as possible to spiff up online and remaining stores.
