$DIS Senator Warren blasts Disney for job cuts, executive pay, Reuters reports U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren criticized Disney's move to cut 28,000 workers while making shareholder payouts in the years prior to the coronavirus pandemic, demanding more information from company executives on the actions, Reuters' Jessica DiNapoli reports. Warren slammed the media giant for the layoffs that came as Disney reportedly restored pay for some executives who had taken reduced salaries due to the pandemic, DiNapoli says, citing a letter the senator sent to Disney earlier this week. The senator from Massachusetts described the company's move to pay dividends and repurchase stock before the pandemic as "short-sighted," since it reduced the capital the company could have used to weather the economic downturn, the author says. "I would like to know whether Disney's financial decisions have impacted the company's decision to lay off workers," Warren wrote.
