$AMRS Amyris currently uses sugar as a feedstock. Why sugar? Because it's a store of carbon. The carbon in the sugar molecule is reconfigured to make target molecules. Plants capture carbon dioxide and sunlight to make sugar. But what if Amyris figured out how to make the sugar itself outside the plant or figured out how to capture carbon dioxide for use in fermentation?
