$AMRN Hold the presses, Preston's new patent could potentially be a bigger deal than we know at the moment. I'd go so far as to say genius. sdLDL (small sense) is far less desirable to have than ldLDL (large dense) particles, because the smaller particles are more permeable and thus more contributive to plaque formation than their larger counterparts. We know that statins have the effect of lowering "total LDL," but according to the literature below, statins actually increase sdLDL. The new patent formulation is really exciting, because it prevents sdLDL from oxidation, which effectively makes sdLDL inert. Who knows, for those who can't tolerate statins, this new formula could be a great answer for that demographic as well.
