$ENDPQ On opioids… Many overdoses were the result of consumption of drugs produced in clandestine laboratories. I’ve worked many years, as a psychologist, and with many other health professionals, with people living with chronic pain and taking opioids on a regular basis. None of our patients OD and of what I remember, non of them became addict in the sense of taking more opioids than necessary or for other purposes than managing the pain. People who have no addiction ( and the underlying psychological) problems tend to be afraid of substances. On the other hand, I’ve also dealt with drug addicts in my career and many told me they were steeling opioids in family members pharmacy. They would anything and everything available to numb themselves. One of them has even been admitted in the Pharmacy program in University! Still think about him at times, wandering what happened to him.
