$ACST In addition to lowering trigs at 12 and 26 weeks by 30% and 36% respectively there was also a 42.2% reduction in triglyceride levels among patients receiving CaPre while on background statin therapy at 12 weeks. 42.2%!!! Meanwhile, control patients receiving a truly inert placebo of plain low glycemic starch saw trigs fall by 27%!!! In all of $AMRN's studies trigs rose over the same time frames in control. FDA won’t step in and revisit the issue of mineral oil but, by comparison, there is little doubt that it is not inert and does attenuate statin performance. All approvals in this space should be revisited and declared null.
