$ACST Acasti CEO JanD’Alvise throws Amarin under the bus in her quarterly call. “And as previously disclosed, the placebo we’re using in the TRILOGY studies is simple cornstarch, which is inert, and consequently is expected to have a neutral effect on key biomarkers of patients in the placebo group, and furthermore unlike mineral oil, cornstarch has no known effect on statin absorption or on statin efficacy.” To say that “...unlike mineral oil, cornstarch has no known effect on statin absorption or on statin efficacy” is highly unusual. It breaks faith with business etiquette being highly non-collegial. Why is she stating this? One possibility is that she’s preemptively protecting her asset from criticism should it underperform. Thoughts?
