$MVIS β€œ[Microsoft] hired MicroVision to design a MEMS laser scanning system, and now claim they invented it by referencing this Microsoft patent as though it encompasses the entire thing: pdfaiw.uspto.gov/.aiw?PageN... One might think MSFT's scan angle patent, while it's great, probably could not exist without MicroVision's own MEMS patents (pick your favorites: patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph...), and the system wouldn't work at all without MVIS' logic embedded in their ASIC for which MVIS receives a royalty per unit. Why should Microsoft pay royalties to someone for their own invention?? Meanwhile, MVIS has lost 80% of its value since the Hololens 2 was launched and Microsoft took credit, dozens of MVIS employees are being layed off (those remaining who haven't already been poached by Microsoft), and the company is on the ropes and forced to look at strategic options (i.e., acquisition on the cheap).” - from Reddit thread: old.reddit.com/r/MVIS/comme...
