$AMRS While much attention has focused on covid, there has been an interesting development elsewhere on the vaccine front. IDRI, in collaboration with Worcester HIV Vaccine and Brigham and Women’s hospital (a major hospital in Boston), has initiated a (small) phase 1 clinical trial to develop a vaccine for HIV un-infected adults. The study was first posted today. While they are testing both a DNA and protein-based formulation, the important part with respect to Amyris is that they are testing these formulations with the GLA-SE adjuvant. A description of this adjuvant can be found in the link below, but the bottom line is that SE = squalene. In other words, IDRI is bringing a squalene-containing vaccine to clinical trials a month after Eduardo confirmed that Amyris squalene exhibits comparable immunogenicity to squalene derived from sharks. journals.plos.org/plosone/a... clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show...
