$JCP "As expected, top line sales faced headwind pressures from aggressive promotions in the third quarter of last year to drive the liquidation of slow-moving and aged inventory. These internal headwinds will continue to affect sales in Q4." This is a direct quote from CFO Bill Wafford in the 3Q ER transcript. He knew Q4 sales comps would still reflect the negative impact of last years' highly promotional environment that boosted sales but in a very unhealthy way. The leadership accurately reported the sales decline in their guidance last quarter and will again this quarter. Note that the sales declines are trending lower. I believe the leadership's focus on "healthier" sales and cost control will eventually right the ship. I also believe there is enough time for them to do it.
