The Department of Energy’s statistical wing had pegged production to average 13.5 million barrels per day.Meanwhile, U.S. diesel demand, a key measure of the country’s economic health, was 4.9% lower in August than early weekly estimates. Jet fuel demand was up 2.7%&nbsp;year on year.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Russian Oil Sanction Expected to Boost Supplies</h2>U.S. oil production could accelerate further as shale drillers gain momentum following this month’s price rebound. The recovery was driven by new US sanctions on Russian oil majors Rosneft and Lukoil.The Trump administration imposed high tariffs on Russian crude importers like India, blaming New Delhi for helping fund the war between Russia and Ukraine. This led Indian refiners to slash imports of Russian Urals. Conversely, India has reportedly agreed to increase its import of U.S. energy.During his recent visit to Asia, President Donald Trump stated that he had reached agreements with Chinese President Xi Jinping and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung to increase the purchase of U.S. energy by both nations.<h2 class="st-heading-2">ExxonMobil, Chevron Production Ramp-Up</h2>On Friday, both ExxonMobil and Chevron said they are ramping up production, driven by robust output from the Permian Basin and Guyana, despite expectations of lower oil prices ahead. The tour, which started in Malaysia, saw Trump sign deals with Malaysia and Cambodia that included eliminating or significantly reducing tariffs on a wide range of U.S. exports.President Trump also inked reciprocal trade frameworks with Thailand and Vietnam. Trump met Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit on Thursday.<h2 class="st-heading-2">U.S.-China Truce?</h2>The Bloomberg report noted that both leaders agreed to a truce, under which Trump has now let go of his threat to impose 100% tariffs on goods from China. It stated that the agreement also saw a pause on fees for Chinese-made ships docking at U.S. ports, in addition to lowering the fentanyl tariff and other measures.As part of the deal, Chinese President Xi Jinping is rolling back plans to further tighten export limits on rare-earth magnets. Trump Offers To Cut Fentanyl Tariffs If China Cracks Down On Exports: Report

According to a Bloomberg News report, Trump said on Friday he has spoken with China’s President Xi Jinping during their summit in South Korea.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>The rate cut on Wednesday resulted in the federal funds rate now ranging from 3.75% to 4%, in line with market expectations and was the second rate cut announced this year, following a 25 bps cut in September.</li><li>Lorie Logan said that unless inflation falls more sharply or the labor market weakens faster than expected, further easing would be “difficult.”</li><li>Logan said that the FOMC already mitigated downside risks by cutting rates at its previous meeting in September.</li></ul>Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas President Lorie Logan said on Friday that she would have preferred to hold interest rates steady at this week’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, where the Federal Reserve announced a cut in the key borrowing rate by 25 basis points.“I did not see a need to cut rates this week. And I’d find it difficult to cut rates again in December unless there is clear evidence that inflation will fall faster than expected or that the labor market will cool more rapidly,” Logan said at the “The Evolving Landscape of Bank Funding” conference at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Fed October Rate Cut</h2>The <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/ed-cuts-rates-by-25-basis-points-october-fomc-meeting/cLGZvdHR3DR">rate cut on Wednesday</a> resulted in the federal funds rate now ranging from 3.75% to 4%, in line with market expectations, and was the second rate cut announced this year, following a 25-bps&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/default/equity/fed-cuts-rates-by-25-basis-points-september-fomc-meeting/chDGxvqRd6u">cut in September</a>.The FOMC noted that the economy continues to grow at a moderate pace.
