OpenAI announced on Tuesday that it will roll out a tailored ChatGPT experience for users under 18, who, once identified, will automatically be directed to a ChatGPT experience with age-appropriate policies in place.The company announced that ChatGPT for teens would also include parental controls, features to block graphic sexual content, and, in rare cases of acute distress, potentially involve law enforcement to ensure safety.OpenAI noted that, with teens growing up with AI, it has attempted to build a system that would tailor its responses to teens, aiming to differ from those of an adult. “We’re building an age-prediction system to estimate age based on how people use ChatGPT. If there is doubt, we’ll play it safe and default to the under-18 experience,” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said.The company stated that parental controls will be available by the end of the month, allowing parents to link their account with their teen’s account, with a minimum required age of 13, through a simple email invitation.Parents will also receive notifications when the system detects their teen is in a moment of acute distress. Speaking to reporters at the White House, the U.S. President reiterated that the benchmark interest rate “should be much lower,” ahead of the Federal Reserve’s decision scheduled for Wednesday.

U.S. retail sales rose higher than expected in August, marking the third consecutive month of gains amid President Donald Trump’s tariffs, leading to an increase in the prices of some products.The value of retail purchases, before adjusting for inflation, increased 0.6% in August compared to July, according to MarketWatch, which is higher than the Dow Jones estimate of 0.3%.According to data from the U.S. Commerce Department, nine of the 13 categories registered an increase during August, with online retailers, clothing stores, and sporting goods leading the gains. Excluding auto and gasoline, retail sales grew 0.7% in August. On an annual basis, retail sales rose 5%.However, miscellaneous store retailers, furniture stores, general merchandise stores, and health and personal care stores registered declines during the month.Earlier this month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI)&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/us-consumer-inflation-august-cpi-report/chwNSJ9Rdvi">report</a> showed that prices rose 2.9% annually in August, in line with expectations. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reportedly stated on Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s willingness to let TikTok shut down in the United States pushed China to make a deal with his administration.In an interview with CNBC, Bessent stated that the Trump administration prioritized national security over allowing the ByteDance-owned social media platform to operate in the U.S., and that this decision was what “turned the tide” in the TikTok deal&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/trump-hints-at-tik-tok-deal-after-us-china-trade-talks-in-europe/chwwaeBRdUX">framework</a> with China.“President Trump made it clear that he would have been willing to let TikTok go dark, that we were not going to give up national security in favor of the deal,” Bessent said.The deadline for TikTok-parent ByteDance to divest the social media app’s U.S. operations is set for Wednesday, September 17.
