The Trump administration on Friday unveiled a comprehensive AI framework aimed at consolidating federal regulations, while urging Congress to overrule “undue burdens” imposed by state laws.
“The Trump Administration is committed to winning the AI race to usher in a new era of human flourishing, economic competitiveness, and national security for the American people,” the White House stated, adding that achieving these goals requires a framework that enables American industry to innovate and thrive, while allowing Americans to benefit from this technology.
The six-pronged approach taken by the Trump administration in the AI framework centers on protecting children, communities, intellectual property rights, and free speech, while enabling innovation and developing an AI-ready workforce.
“This framework can succeed only if it is applied uniformly across the United States. A patchwork of conflicting state laws would undermine American innovation and our ability to lead in the global AI race,” the White House stated.

White House Wants To Codify AI Framework Into Law In 2026, Says Kratsios
White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director Michael Kratsios said in an interview with Fox News that the Trump administration wants to codify the AI framework into law this year.
“This year. As fast as we can. Congress has a lot of priorities they’re trying to make happen, but we believe this can receive bipartisan support,” he said.
White House’s AI and crypto czar David Sacks stated that the AI framework is in response to a growing patchwork of different regulatory guidelines being announced by states.
