Like other cryptos it uses blockchain. Unlike other cryptos, it is [according to the official Tether site] “100% backed by USD” (USD is held in reserve). The primary use of Tether is that it offers some stability to the otherwise volatile crypto space and offers liquidity to exchanges who can’t deal in dollars and with banks (for example to the sometimes controversial but leading exchange Bitfinex)  The digital coins are issued by a company called Tether Limited that is governed by the laws of the British Virgin Islands, according to the legal part of its website. It is incorporated in Hong Kong. It has emerged that Jan Ludovicus van der Velde is the CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex, which has been accused of being involved in the price manipulation of bitcoin, as well as tether. Many people trading on exchanges, including Bitfinex, will use tether to buy other cryptocurrencies like bitcoin. Tether Limited argues that using this method to buy virtual currencies allows users to move fiat in and out of an exchange more quickly and cheaply. Also, exchanges typically have rocky relationships with banks, and using Tether is a way to circumvent that.  USDT is fairly simple to use. Once on exchanges like Poloniex or Bittrex, it can be used to purchase Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It can be easily transferred from an exchange to any Omni Layer enabled wallet. Tether has no transaction fees, although external wallets and exchanges may charge one. In order to convert USDT to USD and vise versa through the Tether.to Platform, users must pay a small fee. Buying and selling Tether for Bitcoin can be done through a variety of exchanges like the ones mentioned previously or through the Tether.to platform, which also allows the conversion between USD to and from your bank account.

The XRP community is rallying around the recent launch of spot ETFs and ongoing institutional accumulation, viewing these as long-term catalysts for institutional adoption despite recent market volatility. While some skeptics argue the asset faces dilution and lacks necessary utility, bullish investors are actively using price dips to increase their positions, fueled by optimism over regulatory progress and the potential for a liquidity squeeze.

Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. The company warned that a full restart could take six to twelve months and issued force majeure notices to customers.Force majeure is a contract clause that releases one or both parties from their obligations if an unexpected and extraordinary event prevents them from fulfilling the agreement.Meanwhile, Emirates Global Aluminium said it may rely on offshore inventories to manage shipping delays.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Europe Could Be Worst Hit</h2>The Gulf Cooperation Council accounts for about 8% of global aluminium output but produces far less alumina and bauxite, making the region heavily dependent on imported raw materials. United States Senior Counselor for Trade and Manufacturing Peter Navarro said Thursday that Washington will maintain tariffs on steel and aluminum with no exemptions for the European Union.“There will be no exemptions, no exclusions for steel and aluminum tariffs,” Navarro told reporters. He noted that the U.S. added more than 400 new products to the tariff list this week to curb manipulation and circumvention. “Every time we try to give an exemption or exclusion to one of our allies, they abuse it totally. The executive quantified Microsoft’s AI savings as&nbsp;exceeding $500 million in its call centers in 2024, with the technology’s usage helping to improve both employee and customer satisfaction.The report stated that Microsoft was starting to utilize AI to interact with smaller clients, which helped the company generate tens of millions of dollars.Althoff also said at Microsoft&nbsp;that AI generated 35% of the code for new products, expediting launches. Allaying employee concerns regarding the employment of AI, he said AI could make them more effective as sellers.&nbsp;The use of Microsoft’s Copilot AI assistant helped each salesperson find more leads, close deals quicker, and generate 9% more revenue, he added.The report of Microsoft’s productivity gains from AI came close on the heels of Oppenheimer upgrading shares of the company to ‘Outperform’ from ‘Perform,’&nbsp; citing the company’s strong positioning in AI.The research firm has a $530 price target for Microsoft stock, The Fly reported.&nbsp;Analyst Brian Schwartz attributed the action to his view that the company’s current stock price does not fully factor in the “sustaining robust growth” of&nbsp;the AI business and a potential reacceleration in Azure revenue in fiscal year 2026.“Investors’ attention on the ramp of Microsoft’s AI revenue stream will only increase as Azure’s growth remains strong,” the analyst said, adding that it will not only offer valuation support, but “also upside potential as this revenue stream continues scaling fast and investors embrace Microsoft as one of the long-term AI winners in software.”In late June, Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives upped the price target for Microsoft stock to $600 from $515, attributing this optimism to &nbsp;bullish AI checks that suggested a massive adoption wave of Copilot and Azure monetization.On Stocktwits, retail sentiment toward Microsoft stock&nbsp;remained ‘bearish’ (42/100) by late Wednesday, with the degree of negativity increasing from the previous day. Microsoft Stock Hits New High: Analysts Say $4 Trillion Valuation May Be Within Reach As AI Upside Still Underappreciated

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) is making&nbsp;significant strides with Copilot, its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered personal assistant, vindicating the company’s huge investments in AI.&nbsp;Two separate Business Insider (BI) reports suggested increased traction for the personal assistant.BI&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-copilot-licenses-million-ai-2025-6">reported</a> Microsoft Commercial Officer Judson Althoff told employees at a meeting that the company is close to clinching a deal with a major customer with more than one million 365 licenses to deploy Copilot.&nbsp;The report said the company hasn’t zeroed in on how to charge the customer for&nbsp;using the personal assistant. It was toying with the idea of either its traditional approach of per-seat software licenses that would fetch a certain amount per month, or institute consumption-based pricing.If per-seat pricing is adopted, Microsoft could get as much&nbsp;as $360 million for a year,&nbsp;considering the one million licenses and $30 it charges for Copilot per user per month. That said, given the volume of licenses involved, the customer may not agree&nbsp;to Copilot’s sticker price, the report said.The potential addition of&nbsp;many new users is seen as a positive for Copilot, even if it&nbsp;means a discount&nbsp;on the sticker price.&nbsp;BI&nbsp;speculated that the unnamed customer&nbsp;was Amazon, given the number of employees involved. Still, its probe with an employee at the e-commerce giant showed that this may not be the case.&nbsp;Amazon has reportedly warned its employees about not using external AI tools, and following the publication of the report, an Amazon spokesperson explicitly ruled out the possibility.&nbsp;A separate BI report&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-copilot-licenses-million-ai-2025-6">said</a> Microsoft was working on a Copilot version for the Department of Defense (DoD). Microsoft Reportedly Nearing Copilot Mega-Deal With Major Customer — But Retail Traders Not Fully Sold

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) has wielded its axe yet again, with the software company laying off hundreds of its workforce amid an uncertain economic climate and increasing investment needs to stay competitive in the artificial intelligence (AI) race.&nbsp;A&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://esd.wa.gov/employer-requirements/layoffs-and-employee-notifications/worker-adjustment-and-retraining-notification-warn-layoff-and-closure-database">Monday notice</a> filed with the Washington State Employment Security Department showed that the Satya Nadella-led company has eliminated 305 permanent positions.&nbsp;The company's most recent cuts add to the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/microsoft-layoffs-show-commitment-to-profitable-growth-analyst/chiq1WnRbN5">6,000 positions</a> it eliminated in mid-May, attributing the action to the organizational changes necessary to best position itself for success in a dynamic marketplace.In 2023, the company cut 10,000 jobs as it grappled with slowing demand amid a spike in inflationary pressure. In January this year, it cut a small percentage of jobs across the departments, calling them “performance-based” eliminations.President Donald Trump’s tariffs, announced in early April,&nbsp;have weighed on economic growth, although Microsoft is relatively immune to the levies compared to its hardware counterparts.Against this backdrop, flab cutting may be needed to meet the higher capex needs. Microsoft Cuts Hundreds Of Jobs Amid Inclement Macro, Rising AI Capex Needs 

The most recent cuts come following the 6,000 positions it eliminated in mid-May. 

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) defied the tech sector rally on Tuesday and ended the session modestly lower after traders reacted to a report regarding <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/microsoft-to-layoff-3-percent-of-workforce/chi8Y8VRbZl">3% job cuts</a> by the company.&nbsp;The company has since then confirmed the news to several media outlets, stating, "We continue to implement organizational changes necessary to best position the company for success in a dynamic marketplace."A sell-side analyst, however, cheered the development.The Fly reported that a Barclays analyst views the move as a "commitment to profitable growth," especially as artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure costs continue to ramp up in the medium term.The analyst noted that the company recently maintained its 2025 operating margin even before these actions.
