Dealers can then offer leases on those same vehicles, effectively passing the $7,500 savings on to consumers for several more months, according to a Reuters&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/ford-gm-launch-programs-extend-use-7500-ev-lease-credit-2025-09-30/">report</a>, citing dealers and company documents.The approach is intended to ease the impact of the subsidy’s expiration, which has fueled a last-minute rush in EV purchases as buyers tried to lock in the benefit. The tax credit, which has supported EV adoption for more than 15 years, was set to end on Sept. 30 under U.S. President Donald Trump’s tax bill signed in July.GM said it worked with its dealers to extend the leasing offer, allowing customers to continue benefiting from the credit, while Ford Credit stated that it will maintain competitive lease payments through Dec. 31.Dealers, analysts, and auto executives have warned that EV sales and leases could decline sharply once the credit is no longer available. Lucid Group (LCID) received a price target hike from Cantor Fitzgerald on Wednesday, following the company's announcement that it has delivered the first robotaxi engineering vehicle to California-based robotics company Nuro.Lucid <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/uber-to-deploy-lucid-gravity-suvs-as-robotaxi-on-platform/ch8KVdIR5pR">announced</a> in July that Uber Technologies (UBER) plans to deploy 20,000 or more of its vehicles on the Uber platform as robotaxis. Uber will deploy the Lucid vehicles over six years, equipped with startup Nuro, Inc.’s Level 4 autonomy system, called Nuro Driver, the company said.On Wednesday, the company <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/LucidMotors/status/1970836212358525405">said</a> in a post on X that it has delivered the first vehicle to Nuro for the installation of a Nuro driver. Nuro's Level 4 self-driving system combines automotive-grade hardware and AI-powered self-driving software. Tesla, GM, Other EV Sales To Tumble By 50% As Trump Ends Federal EV Credits Later This Month, Says Expert: Report

According to auto analyst Karl Brauer, EV sales could rise in the third quarter due to a potential rush to claim federal tax credits, but there could be a steep decline after the deadline kicks in.

Lucid Group shares dropped more than 10% on Tuesday as the electric carmaker completed a 1-for-10 reverse stock split that contributed to investor concerns already stoked by a reduced production forecast and bigger quarterly losses.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/lucid-stock-gets-price-target-cut-from-stifel-as-it-gears-up-for-reverse-stock-split/chtTSAXRdNK">The split</a>, which was approved by shareholders in August, resulted in the company having approximately 307 million shares outstanding, down from more than 3 billion. The number of authorized shares was reduced to 1.5 billion.Lucid now expects to produce 18,000 to 20,000 vehicles in 2022, down from its previous goal of 20,000.&nbsp;Interim Chief Executive Marc Winterhoff told&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/05/lucid-lcid-results-q2-2025.html">CNBC</a> that the company was still targeting the upper end of that range, but said supply chain constraints have impacted the ramp-up of the Gravity SUV.&nbsp;Deliveries in the second quarter (Q2) increased 38% from the same period a year earlier to 3,309 vehicles, but still fell short of Wall Street's forecasts.The company’s net loss widened to $855 million, or roughly $0.28 a share, from a loss of $790 million, or $0.34 per share, a year earlier. Adjusted loss was about $0.24 per share.&nbsp;Operating costs climbed 7.5% to $1.06 billion, while Lucid ended the quarter with $4.86 billion in cash and liquidity.To support growth, Lucid has been leaning on partnerships. Uber is investing $300 million as part of a deal with Lucid and self-driving startup Nuro to roll out more than 20,000 autonomous Gravity SUVs over six years.&nbsp;On the company’s Q2 earnings call, Winterhoff called the tie-up “a strategic alignment” that validates Lucid’s platform beyond direct car sales.The company is also trying to soften the blow from policy changes.
