(NVDA) rival.Retail interest in Digi Power X has also surged, with messages jumping more than 258% over the past week, and watchers growing by over 33% in the same time.<h2 class="st-heading-2">DGXX Gains From Cerebras Deal</h2>Last week, Digi Power X announced that it had struck a <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/dgxx-stock-soars-22-today-everything-to-know-about-the-data-center-agreement-with-nvidia-rival-cerebras/cZQDcbdRe9X">multi-billion-dollar deal</a> with Cerebras Systems (CBRS) to provide up to 40 megawatts (MW) of compute power for the colocation of an AI data center campus in Columbiana, Alabama, on a property it already owns.The initial 10-year term is valued at about $1.1 billion, with a total potential contract value of up to $2.5 billion, inclusive of renewal terms. Digi Power will start constructing the data center campus in two phases – with the first phase bringing online 15 MW of computing power by mid-December this year, and the second phase bringing the remaining 25 MW by the end of the first quarter of 2027.The deal comes amid soaring demand in the AI industry for compute power, infrastructure, and energy capacity.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Cerebras IPO Boost</h2>DGXX also stands to benefit from Cerebras’ soaring demand for its initial public offering. The company is <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/nvda-rival-cerebras-plans-to-list-on-thursday-next-week-report/cZX26J2RegY">set to go public</a> on Nasdaq's Global Select Market on Thursday in an IPO likely to be the world’s largest in 2026.Cerebras is also reportedly set to raise the size and price of ‌its IPO amid soaring demand, with a new IPO price range of $150-$160 a share, up from $115-$125 ​a share, while also raising the number of shares marketed to 30 million from 28 million, as per a <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/legal/transactional/cerebras-raise-ipo-price-range-150-160-demand-surges-sources-say-2026-05-10/">report</a> from Reuters. DGXX Stock Jumps On Cerebras IPO Optimism: Here's The $2.5B Deal That Ties These Two Plays Together

It could be the largest IPO in the U.S. so far this year.&nbsp;The Sunnyvale, California-based company is offering 28 million shares for $115 to $125 each, according to its filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).&nbsp;At the top of the price range, Cerebras would have a market value of $26.6 billion, based on the shares outstanding in its filing. Accounting for stock options, restricted share units, and warrants, the company would have a diluted valuation of about $33 billion, according to Bloomberg calculations.&nbsp;Cerebras hopes to rival Nvidia as several tech companies look to reduce their reliance on NVDA’s chips. While NVDA’s architecture involves connecting thousands of small GPUs (like the Blackwell B200) on a silicon wafer, Cerebras creates one big chip - the size of a dinner plate.&nbsp;&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Cerebras and OpenAI Relationship</h2>OpenAI had struck a deal worth over $10 billion with Cerebras in January this year, and the ChatGPT maker separately has warrants that allow it to buy over 33 million shares in the company.OpenAI is integrating Cerebras's Wafer-Scale Engine (WSE) to handle high-speed inference. This technology allows OpenAI to drastically reduce latency for long-form model outputs (like complex coding or reasoning tasks).&nbsp;Amazon Web Services (AWS) had also signed a deal in March to use the company’s chips for its data centers.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Does Cerebras Do?</h2>Founded in 2015,<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/chip-startup-cerebras-eyes-3-b-ipo-filing-today-what-s-the-open-ai-connection/cZJUL4wRIx9"> Cerebras</a> builds specialized AI chips and supercomputers designed to train and run large AI models faster than traditional GPU setups, along with software and cloud services to support them.&nbsp;It positions itself as a simpler, high-speed alternative to Nvidia by using a single massive chip rather than many smaller ones. Recently, it has been expanding into AI cloud services, opening new data centers, partnering with big tech firms, and securing large compute deals.Cerebras first filed for a public listing in September 2024 and then decided to withdraw its plan and raise $1.1 billion privately in October of that year.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Retail View on NVDA, OpenAI&nbsp;</h2>Retail sentiment on NVDA was ‘extremely bullish’ and was ‘bearish’ on OpenAI. Negotiations with the investment firms are ongoing, and terms could change, according to the people.&nbsp;If finalized, the $35 billion financing will provide the liquidity necessary for Broadcom to scale its custom silicon business as Big Tech firms—including Amazon and Microsoft—plan to spend a combined $725 billion on AI infrastructure.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">AVGO’s Recent Partnerships&nbsp;</h2>AVGO has recently secured high-profile, long-term agreements to develop custom Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) for Google and networking components for Meta Platforms (META) through 2031. Broadcom also recently expanded its partnership with Anthropic, promising to supply 3.5 gigawatts of next-generation AI compute capacity starting in 2027.The chipmaker’s ambitious plan to develop bespoke artificial intelligence hardware along with OpenAI also reportedly hit a significant financing roadblock, as per a report from The Information on Thursday.&nbsp;The companies were negotiating an agreement for Broadcom to finance the first phase of chip production, which would consume 1.3 GW of data center capacity and cost around $18 billion.&nbsp;The negotiations have hit a snag, as Broadcom has said it would finance the first phase only if Microsoft (MSFT) agrees to buy roughly 40% of the chips. Under the proposed arrangement, Microsoft would install the chips in its data centers and then rent them back to OpenAI.&nbsp;&nbsp;Microsoft has yet to sign a firm purchase agreement to use the chips developed by AVGO and OpenAI. This hesitation stems from a fundamental infrastructure disagreement where OpenAI envisions specialized data centers optimized for its custom silicon chip, whereas Microsoft prefers its standard, versatile data center designs, as per the report.&nbsp;Microsoft could choose not to buy OpenAI’s chips, which would change the project's financing terms, the memo said. A purchase commitment from Microsoft would give Broadcom confidence it would get its money back, according to a person involved in the talks.&nbsp;Broadcom is not particularly happy about the risk that Microsoft might not choose to buy the chips and thinks it is OpenAI’s mandate to ensure Microsoft does, as per the memo.<h2 class="st-heading-2">High Stakes for OpenAI</h2>The stakes for OpenAI are existential as it looks to burn through over $200 billion in operating expenses through 2029. Owning its own chips rather than being dependent on Nvidia is a primary strategy to manage its bloating expenditure plans.&nbsp;The project, code-named Nexus, represents OpenAI’s efforts to break free from its costly reliance on Nvidia hardware to run its AI models.
