Anthropic Nears $1-Trillion Valuation After Massive $65B Funding Round — Edges Past OpenAI

• The latest funding round was led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Sequoia Capital, with backing from investors including Blackstone and DST Global.
• Amazon is supporting Anthropic's infrastructure expansion through previously announced investments, including a $5 billion commitment.
• Micron is among the chip partners helping Anthropic secure the memory and storage capacity needed to meet rising AI demand.

Anthropic has raised $65 billion in a Series H funding round, valuing the artificial intelligence company at $965 billion post-money and making it one of the world's most valuable private companies.

The latest raise more than doubles Anthropic's valuation from $380 billion in February. 

Anthropic Overtakes OpenAI

With its latest funding round, Anthropic has surpassed OpenAI in valuation. The AI startup is now valued at $965 billion, compared with OpenAI's $852 billion valuation following its funding round in March.

Anthropic’s $65-billion funding round was led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Sequoia Capital. Other investors included Blackstone, Brookfield, Coatue, D1 Capital and Temasek. 

AMZN, MU Among Key Partners

Anthropic said the funding package includes $15 billion in previously committed investments from hyperscale partners, including $5 billion from Amazon.

The company also highlighted strategic infrastructure relationships with Micron, Samsung and SK hynix, which supply critical memory and storage technologies needed to support growing AI workloads.

Anthropic added that it has recently expanded its computing footprint through agreements with Amazon, Google, Broadcom and SpaceX. Claude is now available across Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, with AWS remaining its primary cloud and training partner. 

Anthropic Launches Claude Opus 4.8

In a separate blog post on Thursday, Anthropic said it has launched Claude Opus 4.8, the latest version of its flagship AI model. The company said the new model delivers better performance and is a more effective collaborator, while remaining available at the same price as the previous version.

Anthropic also introduced new features for Claude users. Users can now control how much effort Claude puts into a task, while Claude Code gets a new “dynamic workflows” feature designed to handle larger and more complex projects.
