Arm Holdings (ARM) announced on Tuesday that it has entered the silicon products market, launching its first in-house chip, the Arm AGI CPU, for artificial intelligence data centers.
The company said that Meta Platforms Inc. (META) will be the lead partner and co-developer for the new CPU, and will work alongside Meta’s custom silicon.
The new compute platform is aimed at agentic AI workloads, the company said. “With the expansion into delivering production silicon with our Arm AGI CPU, we are giving partners more choices all built on Arm’s foundation of high-performance, power-efficient computing, to support agentic AI infrastructure at global scale,” said CEO Rene Haas.
ARM stock rose 2% at the time of writing.
Chip Details
According to a report from Reuters, the new chip will improve agentic AI demands by addressing data needs for AI that will be able to act on behalf of users with little oversight, instead of replying to queries like a regular chatbot.
As per the report, Arm already has additional designs that are currently underway and expected to be released at 12- to 18-month intervals.
"It's a very pivotal moment for the company," Haas reportedly told Reuters. "It's back, and it works, and it's doing everything we thought it would," he added, about the new chip.
Arm’s new chip will be produced under the supervision of the company's cloud AI business head, Mohamed Awad, as per the report, and will be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). As per Reuters, the chip is expected to enter volume production later this year.
Other Customers

Arm said that more than 50 major tech companies, including Microsoft (MSFT), Nvidia Corp. (NVDA), and Samsung, are supporting Arm’s move into making its own chips.
