Carson Group’s Ryan Detrick said the current bull market, which will turn three years old soon, is still a rather “young” bull market.&nbsp;“History would say there is likely many more years left,” he said, adding that in the past 50 years, five bull markets got past their second birthday, and the average age was 8 years. Bulls remain in control of the market in the short-term, and the price action is telling them to stay long for now. While investors should continue to be vigilent about seasonality and a potential post-FOMC pullback, price remains king. 

U.S. stock futures treaded water early Thursday as traders looked ahead to the August consumer price inflation (CPI) report for confirmation on the thaw in pricing pressure relayed by its wholesale counterpart.Given that the S&amp;P 500 Index has reclaimed its record high, the overbought levels could temper any optimism stemming from a benign retail price inflation number. Deutsche Bank and Barclays became the latest firms to&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/barclays-deutsche-bank-raise-sp-500-forecasts-bull-run-continues-2025-09-10/">revisit</a> their year-end S&amp;P 500 price targets. While the former lifted its forecast to 7,000 from 6,550, the latter raised it to 6,450 from 6,050. Incidentally.The premises behind the moves are strong corporate earnings, artificial intelligence (AI) optimism and the economy’s resilience.As of 3:05 a.m. ET on Wednesday, the Nasdaq 100, S&amp;P 500 futures, Dow and Russell 2000 futures were all modestly higher.On Wednesday, a strong surge in Oracle (ORCL) shares and its ripple effect on other AI stocks, and a tame producer price inflation report inspired positive closes by the S&amp;P 500 Index and the Nasdaq Composite Index. On a year-over-year basis, the index may have increased at an accelerated pace of 2.9% compared to July’s 2.7% rate. The monthly and annual rates of the core CPI, which excludes food and energy, are expected to remain unchanged at 0.3% and 3.1%.Among the earnings scheduled for the day are Kroger (KR), Lovesac (LOVE), Adobe, Inc. (ADBE) and RH (RH).Not all are convinced about the health of the rally. Former JPMorgan Chief Strategist Marko Kolanoic warned of an AI bubble. Travere Therapeutics (TVTX) on Wednesday said that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration informed the company that it has waived the need for an advisory committee meeting regarding its application for Filspari in treating focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS).The FDA is expected to decide on the company’s application by January 13, 2026. If approved, Filspari would be the first medication indicated for FSGS, the company <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20250910301976/en/Travere-Therapeutics-Provides-Update-on-FDA-Advisory-Committee-Meeting-for-FILSPARI-sparsentan-in-FSGS">said</a>. FSGS is a rare and serious kidney disorder driven by proteinuria or protein leaks into the urine due to a breakdown of the normal filtration mechanism in the kidney. The disease leads to progressive kidney function loss and kidney failure and is estimated to affect more than 40,000 patients in the U.S., according to Travere. &nbsp;Shares of the company soared 16% in the pre-market session. Nasdaq, S&P 500 Futures Climb As Traders Mull Rate Outlook, Tariff Developments: Strategist Says Trend Positive But Stays Wary Of September Volatility

The week’s inflation readings are the final pieces of the economic puzzle that the central bank would consider ahead of the September 16-17 Federal Reserve’s rate-setting meeting. 

U.S. stock futures climbed early Friday as traders braced for the August non-farm payrolls report. A softer-than-expected report or one that aligns with expectations could add evidence to the weakening of the job market and push the Federal Reserve to its first cut since December&nbsp;2024.Economists, on average, expect the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) to report job gains of 75,000 for August, slightly higher than the 73,000 jobs added in July, potentially marking the fourth straight month of sub-100,000 job gains.The unemployment rate is expected to tick up one-tenth of a percentage point to 4.3%. The average hourly wage, a measure of inflation, is estimated to have risen 3.8% year-over-year (YoY),&nbsp;which is slower than the 3.8% rate observed in July.Fund manager Louis Navellier said, “We are in an environment where bad news will be considered good news, since financial markets are expecting a key interest rate cut by the FOMC on September 17th.”&nbsp; That said, the overbought levels of the market could temper some of the optimism unless the job gains are very anemic.&nbsp;The CME FedWatch Tool, which is based on expectations from futures traders,&nbsp;shows the odds of a 25-basis-point Fed funds rate cut at the September meeting at 99.4%.As of 4:50 a.m. ET on Friday, the Nasdaq 100 futures climbed 0.47%, thanks to a positive reception to&nbsp; Broadcom’s (AVGO) quarterly print. The S&amp;P 500 futures added 0.24%, and the Russell 2000 futures&nbsp;increased 0.09%, while the Dow futures&nbsp;was marginally higher.On Thursday, the S&amp;P 500 Index pushed to a new closing high, although it could not go past its intraday high, and the Nasdaq Composite and the Dow Jones Industrials also recorded significant gains.
