@IntrinSick008 They had to do it now because the convertible bond quarterly payment was due on Sept 13th. These are regular events and we know when they are coming up, this is why you saw selling and a drop in SP this past week.  
 
You will see it again in 3 months, Dec 13th is the next due date. Unless: They are also giving the bond holder the option to execute the next payment anytime before Dec 13 at 25p.

They shouldn’t need to do a separate raise for coupon-based payments. Isn’t there a toggle feature where they can just elect to issue ad-on shares to fund the interest?

@IntrinSick008 I am not defending them, this is just the reality of where they are financially, like most exploration companies they are always checking the couch cushions for lose change.  
 
The bond payment part is essentially a toggle, but they keep making it a broader raise when they do it. In this case, and related to your $150M post, Megrez and Dubhe were not part of the original $150M plan so they need more funds than expected.  
 
This is still a very speculative investment, Dubhe should change that one way or another.
