Bitcoin is the first successful internet money based on peer-to-peer technology; whereby no central bank or authority is involved in the transaction and production of the Bitcoin currency. It was created by an anonymous individual/group under the name, Satoshi Nakamoto. The source code is available publicly as an open source project, anybody can look at it and be part of the developmental process.  Bitcoin is changing the way we see money as we speak. The idea was to produce a means of exchange, independent of any central authority, that could be transferred electronically in a secure, verifiable and immutable way. It is a decentralized peer-to-peer internet currency making mobile payment easy, very low transaction fees, protects your identity, and it works anywhere all the time with no central authority and banks.  Bitcoin is designed to have only 21 million BTC ever created, thus making it a deflationary currency. Bitcoin uses the SHA-256 hashing algorithm with an average transaction confirmation time of 10 minutes. Miners today are mining Bitcoin using ASIC chip dedicated to only mining Bitcoin, and the hash rate has shot up to peta hashes.  Being the first successful online cryptography currency, Bitcoin has inspired other alternative currencies such as Litecoin, Peercoin, Primecoin, and so on.  The cryptocurrency then took off with the innovation of the turing-complete smart contract by Ethereum which led to the development of other amazing projects such as EOS, Tron, and even crypto-collectibles such as CryptoKitties.

Bitcoin is experiencing heightened volatility as it tests critical support levels, sparking intense debate about whether the recent dip signals a buying opportunity or the start of a deeper bear market. Ethereum is a global, open-source platform for decentralized applications. In other words, the vision is to create a world computer that anyone can build applications in a decentralized manner; while all states and data are distributed and publicly accessible. Ethereum supports smart contracts in which developers can write code in order to program digital value. Examples of decentralized apps (dapps) that are built on Ethereum includes tokens, non-fungible tokens, decentralized finance apps, lending protocol, decentralized exchanges, and much more.  On Ethereum, all transactions and smart contract executions require a small fee to be paid. This fee is called Gas. In technical terms, Gas refers to the unit of measure on the amount of computational effort required to execute an operation or a smart contract. The more complex the execution operation is, the more gas is required to fulfill that operation. Gas fees are paid entirely in Ether (ETH), which is the native coin of the blockchain. The price of gas can fluctuate from time to time depending on the network demand.

Ethereum

Ethereum is experiencing renewed selling pressure, with community members closely watching the 200-day moving average as a key support level. Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. In a <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/PeterLBrandt/status/1985684468049592701">post</a> on X on Friday, Brandt flagged the exhaustion gap beyond the 6,841.25 level.An exhaustion gap is a chart pattern that typically forms near the end of a strong trend. It suggests the current momentum may be fading, and a potential reversal or price correction could follow soon.Notably, from a technical perspective, the S&amp;P 500 sits comfortably above its 200-day moving average of 6,119.96.<h2 class="st-heading-2">S&amp;P 500 Performance</h2>The S&amp;P 500 just notched its sixth consecutive monthly gain, its longest streak since 2021, but many sectors beyond the tech heavyweights are lagging. Analysts argue that this limited breadth could limit further upside and raise concerns about sustainability.The S&amp;P has gained nearly 18% since Donald Trump’s election victory, fuelled by investor expectations of an economic boom and an AI-tech spending spurt.&nbsp;&nbsp;Earlier in the day, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon told investors at the Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit in Hong Kong that markets may see a 10% to 20% pullback over the next one to two years. Morgan Stanley CEO Ted Pick echoed those sentiments, adding that he expects 10% to 15% drawdowns that are not driven by a macro cliff effect.Meanwhile, uncertainty over the Federal Reserve’s rate-cut outlook also appears to weigh on sentiment. Mixed signals from Fed officials and the suspension of key economic data releases amid the government shutdown are likely to add to investor caution. While the Fed cut rates last week, Chair Jerome Powell indicated it could be the last move this year.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Are Analysts Saying?</h2>Bank of America’s (BofA) sell-side indicator (SSI) implies an S&amp;P 500 price return of 13% by the end of 2026, which is below this year’s gains so far. However, the indicator remains in neutral territory, still about two percentage points shy of the level that would trigger a formal “Sell” signal.Goldman Sachs’ David Kostin reiterated his 6,800 year-end target for the S&amp;P 500.However, some analysts have remained bullish. Scott Bessent Praises Elon Musk For 'Fantastic Job' In Helping Downsize US Government Spending: Report

This comes after a public fallout between Musk and President Donald Trump, after the Tesla CEO criticized the Trump administration’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” over spending concerns.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Siegel’s comments come at a time when Big Tech companies are ramping up their capex.</li><li>OpenAI investor Microsoft reported that the company’s capex spends were driven by demand for its cloud and AI offerings.</li><li>However, beyond the Big Tech stocks, Siegel said that valuations are “far from euphoric.”</li></ul>Jeremy Siegel, professor emeritus of finance at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, dismissed concerns of an AI bubble on Tuesday, amid growing concerns of froth in U.S. equities.In his weekly commentary, Siegel&nbsp;stated that the current rally in U.S. equities is driven by strong earnings from big technology companies in the latest quarter. “Earnings remain the bright spot,” he said.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Why Is Current Boom Different?</h2>Siegel added that Big Tech’s latest quarterly prints, and the capital expenditure plans in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector for 2025-26, demonstrate that the current boom in U.S. equities is different from the dot-com boom in 1999. “These are real firms with real cash flows, not concept stocks,” he said.Siegel’s comments come at a time when Big Tech companies are ramping up their capex. Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) spent $34.9 billion in its fiscal first quarter (Q1), higher than the $30 billion that it had forecast. Microsoft CFO Amy Hood stated that the spending was driven by demand for the company's cloud and AI offerings.Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) reported $34.2 billion in capex in its fiscal third quarter (Q3), forecasting $125 billion in capex by the end of 2025, compared to $83 billion in 2024.Meta Platforms Inc. (META) expects to spend up to $72 billion in capex in 2025, up from $39.2 billion it spent in 2024.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Looking Beyond Big Tech</h2>Siegel underscored that beyond the Big Tech stocks, valuations are “far from euphoric.”“By our calculations, the non-Mag7, non-Tech slice of the S&amp;P 500 trades near a 19–20x market-cap-weighted P/E—reasonable with disinflation and positive growth. That’s fertile ground and supportive for further gains,” he added.However, the exuberance in Big Tech stocks could result in a late-year chase by fund managers, according to Siegel.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Strong Economy</h2>The economist also noted that the U.S. economy is “sturdier” than most expected at this point in the year. He stated that inflation in areas like housing rents is easing, while higher prices of goods are being distorted by President Donald Trump’s tariffs. “This is an economy where prices are edging lower for the right reasons and growth is still running above stall speed,” he added.Meanwhile, U.S. equities were down in Tuesday’s pre-market trade. Wharton’s Jeremy Siegel Says AI Boom Is No Bubble: 'These Are Real Firms With Real Cash Flows'

(PLTR) worth $912 million and $186.58 million in Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) at the end of the third quarter (Q3).Separately, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon warned of a pullback at an investment summit in Hong Kong, according to a CNBC&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/11/04/goldman-sachs-morgan-stanley-warn-of-a-market-correction.html">report</a>. “It’s likely there’ll be a 10 to 20% drawdown in equity markets sometime in the next 12 to 24 months,” he said.At the same event, Morgan Stanley CEO Ted Pick also warned of the possibility of a 10% to 15% drawdown, according to the report.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Futures Trade Lower</h2>While Dow Jones futures were down by 0.72% at the time of writing, the S&amp;P 500 futures fell 1.02%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100’s futures declined 1.33%. If the major averages end higher on Friday or don’t fall notably, they are on track to record their third straight week of gains.In another development, President Donald Trump has called on the Senate to terminate the filibuster custom—a longstanding Senate tactic that delays or blocks votes on legislation by keeping debate open—in a bid to end the month-long government shutdown.&nbsp; The Senate needs a supermajority of 60 of the 100 members to overcome a filibuster and pass legislation.<h2 class="st-heading-2">How Futures Are Trading</h2>As of 5 a.m. ET on Friday, the Nasdaq 100 futures jumped 1.25%, the S&amp;P 500 futures climbed 0.72%, and Dow futures added 0.12%, while the Russell 2000 futures edged up.On Stocktwits, however, retail sentiment toward the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SPY">SPDR S&amp;P 500 ETF (SPY)</a>, an exchange-traded fund that tracks the S&amp;P 500 Index, turned ‘bearish’ early Friday from ‘neutral’ a day ago, and that toward the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/QQQ">Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ)</a> ETF, which tracks the Nasdaq 100 Index, worsened to ‘extremely bearish’ from ‘bearish’ a day ago. Communication services, consumer discretionary, IT and material stocks came under significant selling pressure.The SPY and the QQQ ETFs fell 1.10% and 1.53%, respectively, while the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/DIA">SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust (DIA)</a> and the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/IWM">iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM)</a> declined 0.29% and 0.76%, respectively.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Key Catalysts To Watch Out For</h2>On the economic front, the ISM-Chicago is scheduled to release its October Business Barometer Index at 9:45 a.m. ET. Economists, on average, expect the index to remain below the ‘50’ level that marks expansion and contraction, but improve slightly to 42 from the September reading of 40.6.Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan is scheduled to make a public appearance at 9:30 p.m. ET, and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack, as well as Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic, are due to speak at 12 p.m. ET.Noteworthy names featured on the earnings calendar for the day include Aon (AON), AbbVie (ABBV), Chevron (CVX), ExxonMobil (XOM), Colgate-Palmolive (CP), Dominion Energy (D), and Charter Communications (CHTR).<h2 class="st-heading-2">How Other Markets Fared</h2>Crude oil futures fell further early Friday, remaining on track to close the week lower, while gold futures stayed above the $4,000 level. The 10-year U.S. Treasury note yield rose further, advancing about 4.1%. The U.S. dollar ticked down against its major counterparts.
