$WRD nothing new from Bloomberg. Tony announced this in the Q2 call. One qtr later Bloomberg reminds the market. I did not see them report this after Q2 was released.
Since WAYMO is not reported as a standalone AV company like PONY and WRD, did they assumptions about WAYMO profitability? WAYMO first gen AV cost about 5X more than a Chines AV.

@LubberJML Bloomberg is comparing apples with unknowns.

Sure, they’re right on the utilisation. Waymo has 1st mover advantage in all cities they enter. People want to experience that AV novelty, and are willing to pay a premium fare. A recipe for high utilisation.
Waymo is assumed to be operating break even in 2028, but company level is way out. Meanwhile WeRide will turn cashflow positive at least on a single quarter basis in 2028, followed by full year company profitability.

They are very different in many ways:

WeRide and Pony domestically operate in a regulated priced market (operator pricing within approved frameworks in China and Gulf). The competative AV landscape is diverse and plentiful in China. The competition overseas in maturing markets is still manageable.

Waymo operates in a commercially determined pricing structure, and also dynamic pricing is more familiar. The competitive landscape? Emerging, but in most areas nascent. Even a $200K Jag can easily make money.

@NLZ WAYMO and Baidu are assumptions. PONY and WRD are not assumptions. Perhaps WAYMO and Baidu don't want the market to know the economic realities af their AV. I know what the know factors are. I do not know the rest and will not make the assumption you seem to have.
My comments and questions on the article stand.

| Alphabet management: CEO Sundar Pichai has told employees and investors that Waymo could become “meaningful” to Alphabet’s financials by 2027–2028, and has pointed to 2027 as a potential profitability inflection as sensor costs fall and utilization rises.

As to utilisation, fare metrics (premium rates against uber and Lyft), while other Robotaxi companies remain nascent (a clear observation, Waymo operates well over 95% of all fully driverless robotaxis that are actually on the road). That’s where premium rate and utilisation are derived from.

Whether or not Waymo and Baidu want to disclose the economic realities, I don’t know. But let’s just say they’re not eager to show their cards just yet. It’s not like they have to show them either.

Waymo hit 500K weekly rides and $355M revenue by Q1 2026. Full data: fleet size, safety crash rates, deadheading, and our original WURI metric. Waymo Statistics 2026 Update.

@NLZ But PONY and WeRide do have to show them and that is the point. In 2 years +/- when the financials sho the results tht sho profitability I bet they break it out with pride. My two cents on that.

@LubberJML I’m sure they will. There’s a detailed “Road to IPO”- playbook written and executed on. Such news could well mark the beginnings of Waymo’s roadshow.

Until then, Waymo will conquer US, while they are way ahead of every permitable market player. Chinese players won’t have access to the US market. So it’s smooth sailing for Waymo.

They’ll easily scale in the market that has the largest earnings potential per ride, and it’s the most free to scale market as well. International expansion won’t be that easy.

Still think WeRide is the first to break even on the quarter. Not only because they have to, but because cause they have the most efficient model (also because they have to).

@LubberJML glad we can agree on something 😂
