AeroVironment Inc. (AVAV) on Friday announced a new firm-fixed-price agreement with the U.S. Space Force to deliver two of its BADGER phased array antennas as part of the military’s Satellite Communication Augmentation Resource (SCAR) initiative.
This deal marks the initial fixed-price option under the SCAR Other Transaction Agreement (OTA), a step aimed at boosting deployment speed and system performance.
Following the announcement, AeroVironment stock inched 0.3% higher on Friday, after the morning bell. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around the stock remained in ‘neutral’ territory amid ‘normal’ message volume levels.
According to the company, the first BADGER unit will be handed over to the U.S. Space Force within the next few months, with additional units scheduled for early 2026. AeroVironment delivered the associated Mission Support Container, housing critical software and electronic components, ahead of schedule earlier this year.
The company has signed expanded production agreements with several key suppliers to strengthen its BADGER supply chain. This move is expected to minimize delays and cost volatility.
“We applaud the technical achievements of the AV team that have enabled this transformative moment for satellite communications, along with their investments in automation, supply chain, and manufacturing that will serve to stabilize costs and increase scale long-term,” said Director of the U.S. Space Force’s Space Rapid Capabilities Office, Kelly Hammett.
The company builds advanced systems for use in the air, on land, and sea, in space, and in cyberspace. Its products include self-flying drones, loitering weapons, tools to stop enemy drones, space systems, energy-based weapons, and electronic warfare technologies.
AeroVironment stock has gained 88% in 2025 and 61% in the last 12 months.
