Earlier, reports emerged touting Apple’s plans to overhaul Siri into an AI chatbot later this year, though official updates from the company are yet to come.

The new update would allow Apple users to leverage Siri voice assistant to tap into Alphabet Inc.’s (GOOG, GOOGL) Google Gemini or Anthropic PBC’s Claude for queries if they were installed in the device. This would be similar to how Apple Intelligence allows queries to be routed to ChatGPT. As per the report, this update would also allow Apple to generate more money from third-party AI subscriptions through the App Store.

The new approach would remove the need for one-off partnerships like the ChatGPT deal, allowing the company to integrate multiple external AI services faster and broaden AI use across its operating systems without negotiating separate agreements, as per Bloomberg.

Launch Timeline

Apple is planning to announce its latest software on June 8 at its Worldwide Developers Conference, as per the Bloomberg report. However, the features could still change or get delayed.

Recent reports, however, have suggested that upgrades to Siri have faced issues during testing, potentially delaying the release of some functional updates.
