Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) upgrades to its virtual assistant Siri have reportedly faced issues during testing in recent weeks, potentially delaying the release of some functional updates.

According to a Bloomberg report citing people familiar with the matter, Apple was initially planning to include the function changes in its upcoming operating system update in March. However, after the issues, the iPhone maker now plans to roll them out over future versions.

Siri did not always process queries correctly or sometimes took too long to handle requests, as seen in testing, the report said.

However, the situation was fluid, and Apple’s plans could change further, the people said, as per the report.

Shares of AAPL edged up about 1% at the time of writing.

Siri Update

Apple was widely expected to release updates to Siri in the last week of February while launching the beta version of iOS 26.4.

The revamp of the virtual assistant was expected to include a redesigned interface, better comprehension of natural language, on-screen awareness, and upgraded cross-app controls.

The delay means at least some Siri upgrades are potentially pushed back to the next update slated in May, or even in iOS 27, expected to be released in September, as per the report.

Apple is also rumored to overhaul Siri into an artificial intelligence chatbot later this year, although the company has not released any official updates.

Apple's stock has been lagging among its AI peers even as development in the area is looking to become a primary driver for the company.

The tech giant posted its "best-ever quarter“ while reporting its first-quarter (Q1) 2026 results, beating street expectations for revenue and earnings due to strong iPhone sales and a rebound in the China market.
