Trump Says After Iran, US May Turn Its Attention To Cuba: Report 

According to a report from CNBC, Trump said at the White House that the U.S. wants to “fix” the crisis in Cuba after the Iranian military operations are completed.

Meanwhile, inflation in December came in at 2.7%.Fed officials are widely expected to hold interest rates steady at the next policy meeting slated for March 17-18. Data from the <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html">CME FedWatch</a> tool indicates a 97.3% probability that the central bank will hold benchmark interest rates at the current target range of 3.50% to 3.75%.Speaking about the impact of artificial intelligence, Schmid reportedly said while he believes AI and other technologies will ultimately lead to non-inflationary growth, the country was still not “there yet.”While the Kansas City Fed chief said the labor market was in balance, he noted the imbalance in the healthcare sector. Schmid said that high demand for health-care workers amid an aging population would continue to pressure profit margins in that industry, which could push inflation higher up.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Market Reaction</h2>The conflict in the Middle East after the U.S. and Israel launched military strikes on Iran over the weekend has stoked inflation concerns across the country. Crude oil prices have risen amid the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, while stock markets have fallen.U.S. equities were in the red in Tuesday’s trade at the time of writing. Fed’s Jeff Schmid Says Apex Bank Does Not Have Room To Be ‘Complacent’ About Inflation: Report

According to a Bloomberg report, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City chief Jeff Schmid said on Tuesday that inflation in the U.S. has been above the Fed’s target for almost five years.

The new global levies can be in place for 150 days before requiring Congressional approval.Meanwhile, tensions have been rising since Trump indicated that he could go to war with Iran if the country’s leadership did not agree to a deal to restrict its nuclear program.Woods reportedly said that any comments from the president regarding an escalation of war against Iran could move markets.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Other Updates</h2>In addition to the above, Trump is also expected to speak about the economy and highlight affordability for Americans, although this is unlikely to impact markets immediately. &nbsp;However, any comments about the economy might influence investor outlook on inflation and the labor market, subsequently impacting key rate cut timing expectations by the Federal Reserve, as per the report.Meanwhile, U.S. equities were in green on Tuesday. March 15 is the first time these odds reach 50%. Thereafter, the odds continue to climb, reaching 76% by the end of the year.Bettors on Kalshi are pessimistic about the U.S. and Iran striking a nuclear deal, which would avert a strike.The odds of a deal being struck before April plummeted 39 percentage points over the past 24 hours, falling to 27%. The chances of a deal before August 2026 are even lower, at just 16%.
