BTCFi (Bitcoin Finance) represents emerging financial applications extending beyond Bitcoin's traditional role, with protocols like Babylon allowing Bitcoin holders to stake BTC to secure Proof of Stake chains.

The project traces its origins back to 2004 with Ryan Fugger before being co-founded in its modern form by Jed McCaleb and Chris Larsen. The company, now known as Ripple, works with major financial institutions as partners and investors to build global payment solutions. To protect the network from spam, a small amount of XRP is burned during every transaction, and the token is further utilized by institutions as collateral to access traditional markets and manage digital asset infrastructure.  Institutional adoption of the asset reached a major milestone in November 2025 when the SEC approved the first wave of spot XRP ETFs. In one year&#39;s time, the stock price of OMAH has declined over 9% and you&#39;ve &quot;yielded&quot; less than 15% (the distribution amount has declined too), for a &quot;gain&quot; of less that 6%. Meanwhile, something like $SPYI has seen its stock price gain a little over 1% in a tumultuous market while also yielding 12% for a gain of 13% ... take your pick.

If it exceeds the rate of inflation, and you still have money left over after paying taxes, then it&#39;s a profitable investment.  At a 6.3% annualized RoR, it is neither my best performing nor worst performing investment.  Time will tell, but perhaps QQQI or SPYI will provide a higher CAGR with a double-digit annualized distribution yield than OMAH.
