Polestar shares rose in after-hours trading on Tuesday after the Swedish EV maker finally pulled the wraps off the Polestar 5, a fastback sedan five years in the making.&nbsp;The stock closed up 1.98% at $1.02 on Monday and added another 1.94% in after-hours trading.First shown as the Precept concept, the production car will reach European customers in the first half of 2026 with prices starting at 119,900 euros. In the U.S, the Performance model is expected to top $100,000.The Polestar 5 sits on a bonded aluminium platform developed in the U.K. and will be sold in two versions: a Dual Motor with 748 horsepower that reaches 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, and a Performance trim with 884 horsepower and 749 lb-ft of torque that brings the time down to 3.1 seconds.&nbsp;The Dual Motor version is estimated to deliver 416 miles of range under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), while the Performance trim is rated at 351 miles. Under U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standards, the range is expected to be about 291 miles.Power comes from a 112 kWh battery supplied by SK On, running on an 800-volt system that supports 350 kW fast charging. Polestar says the pack can recharge from 10–80% in about 22 minutes.&nbsp;Equipped with 11 cameras, radar, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and a driver-monitoring system, the interior includes a 14.5-inch screen, head-up display and 21-speaker Bowers &amp; Wilkins system. Polestar Stock Climbs After-Hours As EV Maker Finally Pulls Wraps Off Polestar 5 Fastback

Polestar shares rose in after-hours trading on Tuesday after the Swedish EV maker finally pulled the wraps off the Polestar 5, a fastback sedan five years in the making. 

In the U.S, the Performance model is expected to top $100,000.

Polestar (PSNY) CEO Michael Lohscheller on Wednesday expressed optimism about the market pricing in cost increases due to the removal of tax credit on the purchase of EVs in the U.S.“Even after the disappearance of the tax credit, the U.S. will stay an important market for us. I also do believe that eventually, the market will price for cost increases, right? I’ve never seen in many, many years in automotive that cost increases have not led to price increases,” Lohscheller said during the company’s second quarter earnings call on Wednesday. “Unfortunately, at the moment, the price environment is pretty competitive.”President Donald Trump signed the Republican tax bill into law on the Fourth of July. Under the new law, tax credits for the purchase of electric vehicles will expire on September 30. This includes the $7,500 federal tax credit on the purchase of new EVs and the $4,000 credit on buying used ones.The Polestar CEO noted that in the first half of the year, 77% of its sales were in Europe and 8% in the U.S. The Polestar 3 is currently the only company vehicle sold in the U.S. The firm is also planning to import the Polestar 4 from Korea to the U.S. soon after the vehicle's production begins at a Busan factory in the second half of the year.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/PSNY">PSNY stock</a> traded down 17% at the time of writing. EV maker Polestar (PSNY) said on Thursday that it will manufacture its Polestar 7 SUV, slated for launch in 2028, at a Volvo Cars factory in Kosice, Slovakia.The company <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://media.polestar.com/global/en/media/pressreleases/692316">said</a> that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Volvo Cars, which it has chosen as development and manufacturing partner for Polestar 7. Both Volvo Cars and Polestar are controlled by China’s Geely.While offering design and performance characteristics unique to Polestar, the Polestar 7 compact SUV will share a technology base with two forthcoming Volvo models and use architectures from within Geely. &nbsp;Construction started on the Volvo Cars factory in Košice in 2023. The plant is currently under construction, and it will be Volvo Cars’ third manufacturing plant in Europe. Polestar Partners With Volvo Cars To Expand Manufacturing Into Europe

Shares of Swedish EV maker Polestar (PSNY) were in the spotlight on Monday after the company <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://investors.polestar.com/news-releases/news-release-details/polestar-announces-usd-200-million-equity-investment">announced</a> a $200 million equity investment by Geely Chairman’s PSD Investment Limited.PSD Investment is an existing investor of Polestar, which is majority-owned by China’s Geely. PSD Investment is controlled by Shufu Li, Founder and Chairman of Geely Holding Group.Polestar has agreed to sell over 190 million newly issued American Depositary Shares (ADSs) to PSD Investment for an aggregate price of $200 million through a private investment in public equity for $1.05 per ADS. The per-share price represents a near 2% premium to the stock’s closing price on Friday.Polestar said that it intends to use the proceeds for working capital requirements and general corporate purposes. Polestar To Resume Expansion Into New Markets With France, Says Report: Retail’s Still Skeptical
