Zcash uses a zero-knowledge proof construction called a zk-SNARK, developed by our team of experienced cryptographers based on recent breakthroughs in cryptography. These constructions allow the network to maintain a secure ledger of balances without disclosing the parties or amounts involved. Instead of publicly demonstrating spend-authority and transaction values, the transaction metadata is encrypted and zk-SNARKs are used to prove that nobody is cheating or stealing.  Zcash also enables users to send public payments which work similarly to Bitcoin. With the support for both shielded and transparent addresses, users can choose to send Zcash privately or publicly. Zcash payments sent from a shielded address to a transparent address reveal the received balance, while payments from a transparent address to a shielded address protect the receiving value. @9JW This turd fleeced the public markets, went BK and was acquired for $19M by a private company.  In March 2021 it had $300+ million in cash and $32M in debt.  Through a sustained pattern of capital mismanagement and poor business practices, the company managed to burn through hundreds of millions of dollars, misrepresenting the level of customer demand for its products, and generally misleading investors.  It was a shameful display by management of what not to do in business in my opinion.

Lessons learned on this one:

1.  Don&#39;t ignore short seller reports.  They were right.

2.  Watch the most financially vulnerable member of the management team.  Here, their CMO who was in charge of customer acquistion, repeatedly sold shares during periods of supposed &quot;good news.&quot;

3.  They took on piles of convertible debt, after the CEO told Cramer they had all the cash they needed.  

4.  Their largest &quot;partner&quot; Pepsico sold out of its positio
