Traders are reacting to perceived Democratic gains in the midterms, speculating that increased scrutiny of Elon Musk, government contracts, or data-center projects could weigh on SpaceX and its Tesla merger prospects. Others see the election-driven selloff as overdone and are buying the dip, leaving the discussion split on how much political risk will affect the business.

A heavily political debate over an expected Democratic midterm sweep dominates, with traders linking Teslas selloff to possible scrutiny of Elon Musk, reduced political support, and greater uncertainty around a potential SpaceX merger. Most commentary is bearish, while some traders argue Democrats could restore EV incentives or see the drop as a buying opportunity; the election-related claims remain speculative in the discussion.

Midterm-election uncertainty and projected Democratic gains have fueled fears among traders that tighter AI and data-center regulation could pressure Nvidia and the broader chip trade. SOXLs sharp swings reflect fears that a Democratic sweep could bring tougher data-center rules and slow semiconductor demand, alongside a rebound in chip stocks after strong AMD and SMCI results.
