For folks who are scratching their heads as why JD appointed Sivam as CEO and didn&#39;t keep that position for himself. Make no mistake, JD is still the big boss in the company as a Chairman.  He has the most voting power, the largest amount of class B shares which has 10 times more voting power than class A shares, and has the most say in the company. This is exactly what  Microsoft, Google, ORCL, AMZN and other company founders did with their companies when they left their positions as CEO and appointed  a different person who may do a better job in certain aspects and areas.
Staring this year,QS is no longer an RD/research company that is trying to invent a new product. that Era is over. QS now is starting to become a  high volume manufacturing company, so you have to bring in a person who is an expert in scaling and manufacturing. 
JD can remove Sivam and others, whenever he wants, he controls close to 60% of the voting power.

JD still controls the Co and will continue to contribute with his strengths and talents on the R&amp;D side of thing to bring us many future incarnations of Quantumscape SS batteries. Meanwhile Siva will drive the manufacturing scale up and product output.
