IDK…this guy says the market had valued AP at $4-6B. The share price hasn’t reflected that imo. I think they got blindsided. Next few weeks could be interesting.

Exactly the point. Real value turned out to be double than expected.

Any other surprises in store? Who knows.

My question is when SP price was $16-20 did they factor AP as being even a $4B asset? Maybe they did but I didn’t hear it. Kudos to OTB for making this point for years.

Most of the Canadian analysts don’t fully understand the well run airlines and esp well run airline loyalty programs with credit cards. OTB has spoken about it in the past bullishly.

To most it’s still a cost play, like fuel price. In the mean time well run airlines like UAL, DAL and AC have become value play, esp with premium focused business. And that changes everything. AC was first to take steps to build this strategy. Wait till oil price rationalization and continued higher yields.

Airlineinvestor101 has written in detail about this few years back. One should read his posts if interested in AC.

@airlineinvestor101 and I had numerous convos on this dating back to 2018-19, if i remember correctly on SH. The part i never understood is why in the post covid recovery years, AC remained so coy about it all. Granted, the share buybacks were less expensive but there is a time cost that cannot be recovered, and the shorts took advantage of it. Looking forward to a more aggressive management stance over next years. Enuf of the gee..golly stuff.
