Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1

Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1 - Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1

Projected Democratic gains in the midterms are driving debate over QQQ, with traders concerned that tighter AI and data-center rules could pressure Big Tech and chip stocks. Some see the selloff as an overreaction and a buying opportunity, while others expect further weakness.

Trump Media & Technology Group Corp.

Democratic midterm gains and a projected shift in congressional control dominate discussion, with traders viewing the setback for Trump as a negative for his namesake media company. The reaction is overwhelmingly bearish, though some posts dispute the election picture or remain bullish; the concern is political exposure rather than a new company-specific development.

Midterm election results and perceived Democratic gains dominate discussion, with bearish traders warning of increased scrutiny, pressure on government contracts, and obstacles to Texas data-center expansion or a potential Tesla merger. Others view the selloff as a political overreaction and remain bullish on SpaceXs AI and space businesses, leaving sentiment sharply divided.

Tesla, Inc. engages in the design, development, manufacture, and sale of electric vehicles and energy generation and storage systems. It operates through the Automotive and Energy Generation and Storage segments. The Automotive segment includes the design, development, manufacture, sale, and lease of electric vehicles as well as sales of automotive regulatory credits. Expected Democratic gains and backlash over Elon Musks political spending dominate discussion, with many traders fearing heightened scrutiny of Musks businesses, reduced political support, and added uncertainty around a possible TeslaSpaceX merger. Sentiment is largely bearish, though some traders argue renewed EV incentives could benefit Tesla or view the selloff as temporary.

NVIDIA Corp. engages in the design and manufacture of computer graphics processors, chipsets, and related multimedia software. It operates through the following segments: Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and Compute & Networking. The Graphics segment includes GeForce GPUs for gaming and PCs, the GeForce NOW game streaming service and related infrastructure, Quadro and NVIDIA RTX GPUs for enterprise workstation graphics, virtual GPU, or vGPU, software for cloud-based visual and virtual computing, automotive platforms for infotainment systems, and Omniverse Enterprise software for building and operating metaverse and 3D internet applications. The Compute & Networking segment consists of Data Center accelerated computing platforms and end-to-end networking platforms including Quantum for InfiniBand and Spectrum for Ethernet, NVIDIA DRIVE automated-driving platform and automotive development agreements, Jetson robotics and other embedded platforms, NVIDIA AI Enterprise and other software, and DGX Cloud software and services. The company was founded by Jen Hsun Huang, Chris A. Malachowsky, and Curtis R. Priem in April 1993 and is headquartered in Santa Clara, CA.

Midterm-election uncertainty is driving debate, with traders concerned that Democratic gains could bring tighter AI and data-center regulation and weigh on Nvidia. Others argue the AI buildout remains intact, pointing to AMDs strong results as support for semiconductor demand; the discussion reflects a volatile market reaction rather than consensus on the outlook.

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. engages in the semiconductor business. Its products include processors, accelerators, graphics, adaptive SoCs, FPGAs, and SOMs, and software, tools, and apps. The firm offers artificial intelligence, industries, workloads, and gaming solutions. The company was founded by W. J. Sanders III on May 1, 1969 and is headquartered in Santa Clara, CA.

AMDs earnings beat and stronger outlook, driven by AI and data-center demand, sparked a rally. Bulls see the growth forecast as validation of the AI opportunity, while skeptics cite valuation and cash-flow concerns and speculate that election-related data-center restrictions could weigh on the gains.

Micron Technology, Inc. engages in the provision of innovative memory and storage solutions. It operates through the following segments: Cloud Memory Business Unit (CMBU), Core Data Center Business Unit (CDBU), Mobile and Client Business Unit (MCBU), and Automotive and Embedded Business Unit (AEBU). The CMBU segment focuses on memory solutions for large hyperscale cloud customers and High-Bandwidth Memory for all data center customers. The CDBU segment is involved in memory solutions for mid-tier cloud, enterprise, and OEM data center customers and storage solutions for all data center customers. The MCBU segment focuses on memory and storage solutions for the mobile and client segments. Micron has been caught in a volatile AI-chip selloff tied largely to traders fears that election results could bring data-center restrictions, with the debate shifting toward whether those concerns threaten AI spending or are temporary; optimism over AMDs results and persistent memory shortages has supported a rebound. Bulls emphasize AI-driven demand and Microns role in memory, while bears warn that the memory cycle and elevated expectations could weigh on shares.

Election-related fears of tighter data-center rules and a slower AI buildout have been blamed for SOXLs sharp selloff, while strong AMD and SMCI results have helped fuel a rebound. Traders remain divided between those treating the drop as temporary noise around durable chip demand and those warning that AI valuations and semiconductor weakness could bring further declines.

Sandisk Corp. engages in the development, manufacture, and provision of storage devices and solutions based on NAND flash technology. Its products include solid state drives, memory cards, and USB flash drives. The company was founded on February 5, 2024 and is headquartered in Milpitas, CA.

Sandisk Corp

Apples warning that memory costs are rising and expected to keep climbing has renewed attention on Sandisk, with traders viewing it as evidence of tight supply and pricing power for memory makers. That optimism is tempered by a sharp recent selloff and concerns that the memory boom could be cyclical or that data-center spending may slow, leaving sentiment divided on whether the bounce will last.

Super Micro Computer, Inc. engages in the distribution and manufacture of information technology solutions and other computer products. Its products include twin solutions, MP servers, GPU and coprocessor, MicroCloud, AMD solutions, power supplies, SuperServer, storage, motherboards, chassis, super workstations, accessories, SuperRack and server management products. The company was founded by Charles Liang, Yih-Shyan Liaw, Sara Liu, and Chiu-Chu Liu Liang in September 1993 and is headquartered in San Jose, CA.

Super Micro Computer Inc

Super Micros quarterly results beat expectations and its raised fiscal-year outlook, driven by strong AI-server demand, are the dominant catalyst. Traders celebrated the growth and saw the shares as undervalued, while others questioned whether thin margins, cash-flow needs and lingering doubts about management justify the muted, volatile reaction, which some also linked to election-related market weakness.

$WRD Here's a side-by-sdie view of the key financial data and the employee headcount differential between $PONY and WeRide. They have different structures, diff strategies, but similar share performances on two factors: Net Losses and Scales Operations (slower than everyone expected).

At some point they will diverge over operations, scaling and size of net losses.
WeRide has a better gross margin, a larger global footprint and stronger partners IMO. WeRide rate of change on many other metrics favors WeRide IMO nut institutions favor PONY.
Who ends up on top gets decided by early 2027.

There's more to measure or compare but that's not important now. WeRide outsized net loss vs PONY is entirely from its large headcount. This headcount will need to start showing up in generating better revenues.

We don't have other AV companies to compare these to bcs WAYMO, BAIDU and TESLA do not report their AV as standalone businesses with all their costs, R&D expenses or net losses.

@LubberJML
Sure headcount needs to deliver, but saying WeRide’s larger net loss is ‘entirely’ due to staffing confuses net loss with operating loss.

In FY2025, operating losses between the 2 were almost the same:

WRD $264M vs PONY $261M.

$PONY‘s much smaller net loss benefited substantially from investment valuation gains (it recorded a $128M gain from changes in the fair value of trading securities, esp. their investment in “Moore Threads” contributed to $137M fair value gain), not lower operating losses.

If you feel the need to compare losses, make sure you look at operating losses and cash burn before attributing the gap to headcount.

The 3.3× headcount comparison isn’t like-for-like. Most of WRD’s head count (data-labeling staff) sits in Jingshuo.

The recently announced financing implies a $310M valuation. That workforce supports a business with its own customers, not just robotaxi development. Best compare operating costs and business output, not employee totals alone.

@NLZ That's arguing a very tiny point.
Net loss is the final bottom-line figure on the income statement after all revenues and expenses—including operating losses, interest expense, taxes, non-operating income/expenses, and one-time gains or losses—have been factored in.

My post does not specifically tie net loss to headcount but I will say it is the major factor IMO, maybe 70%+.

The point of my post is about an emp work force that is 3.3X larger than its nearest equal competitor (equal in the eyes of the market not necessarily what you or I think) needs to reveal itself in revenues and on net loss, which is what the market looks at.

No one on WS says Weride has an op loss issue. It's the net loss they focus on.

@NLZ another measure that I shared before but not here is revenue per employee between the two. That's another reason for WeRide outsized NL.
Perhaps the data spin off takes away some of that pressure on WeRide if a chunk of the R&D teams is shifted to the new company and they start collecting bigger and bigger higher margin revenues?

Revenue per employee needs context. Pony outsources data work to OnTime (Ruqi) and Xianli, while WeRide employs a large internal data-processing team. Outsourced staff don’t appear in Pony’s headcount, but their costs remain.

WeRide also supports 5 main applications versus Pony’s two, with a broader testing and deployment footprint: 60+ cities versus about 10 for Pony’s robotaxis, depending on your definition of operational.

These differences can explain part of the gap, but don’t prove efficiency. We should compare total internal and outsourced costs, gross profit and operating losses.

The data subsidiary could help through profitable external sales. Moving employees alone won’t reduce consolidated costs while WeRide retains control.
