This is the first time that crypto tax legislation has gone from being introduced as bills to a formal committee vote.&nbsp;It would be the panel's first move on the package since a&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://waysandmeans.house.gov/event/full-committee-legislative-hearing-on-digital-asset-taxation/">June 9 legislative</a> hearing on digital asset taxation. A positive vote would send the bills to the full House floor. As of Saturday, the committee had not posted a markup notice on its schedule. This means that the final bill list was not yet known. However,&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://news.bgov.com/bloomberg-government-news/ways-and-means-to-consider-crypto-tax-health-bills-next-week">according</a> to Bloomberg, the bill is set to be voted on September 16.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Miners Get Deferral Option</h2>The two measures introduced June 8 have drawn the most attention.&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://waysandmeans.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/H.R.-9175.pdf">H.R. 9175</a>, the Tax Clarity for Mining and Staking Act, by Representative Mike Carey (R-OH), clarifies that the new tokens are considered ordinary income when received, but it also gives miners and stakers an election to defer that income until they dispose of the assets.&nbsp;Under the current IRS treatment, a validator may owe income tax the moment block rewards land in a wallet, even if they do not sell. Gain on a deferred asset is treated as coming from property that is not a capital asset, so it stays ordinary.&nbsp;Wash-Sale Bill Targets Crypto Tax-Loss Trades<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/BILLS-119hr9172ih/pdf/BILLS-119hr9172ih.pdf">H.R. 9172</a>, Applying Existing Tax Anti-Abuse Rules to Digital Assets Act, from Representative Jodey Arrington (R-TX), would extend the Section 1091 wash-sale and Section 1259 constructive-sale rules to digital assets, ending the practice of selling crypto at a loss and rebuying it minutes later to book the deduction. However, the bill carves out qualified U.S. dollar stablecoins.&nbsp;Traders currently sell crypto at a loss, claim the deduction, and repurchase the same asset minutes later without penalty. The bill applies to dispositions after its June 8 introduction date. It also exempts tokens acquired through mining and staking, so block rewards received inside a 30-day window would not trip the rule.&nbsp;The Joint Committee on Taxation, the nonpartisan body that scores tax bills for Congress, estimates H.R. 9172 would bring in about $2.07 billion in extra federal revenue over 10 years. That money comes from crypto losses that traders could no longer deduct once the wash-sale rule applied.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Democrats Push For Limits On Crypto Tax Deferrals</h2>The June 9 hearing took testimony from Coinbase (COIN), Fidelity, the advocacy group Coin Center, and the Tax Law Center at NYU Law. Democrats have pushed back on how far the deferral goes.&nbsp;Representative Steven Horsford (D-NV)&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://waysandmeans.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Amendment-to-H.R.-9173-and-H.R.-9175.pdf">filed an amendment</a> that would cap the mining, staking, and election at 5 years and limit deductions for donated tokens that are not widely traded to what the charity actually receives when it sells them.Committee Democrats also released a discussion draft for the End Digital Assets Tax Shelter Act, targeting U.S. citizens who avoid tax by treating digital asset income as Puerto Rican-sourced.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/bitcoin">Bitcoin’s price</a> was trading at $77,338, down over 0.5% in the last 24 hours. "That's what we showed." As of September 7, Strategy holds about 845,050 BTC.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/MSTR">MSTR's price</a> closed up nearly 2% on Friday. That's sort of how the banks were looking at our Bitcoin collateral," he added.&nbsp;Banks view Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings in a similar way, he said. Credit investors value cash first and are more willing to value Bitcoin when a company shows that it can sell the asset if necessary.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Le Says ‘Never Sell’ Was Never Formal Policy</h2>Le also said Strategy’s well-known promise to never sell Bitcoin was not an official company policy. “It's a marketing statement that we had, but it wasn't, I will call it, sort of a board-governed decision,” he said. "There’s nothing written down that we would never sell Bitcoin," he added.Lee said Strategy would sell Bitcoin before allowing its stock to collapse or putting the company at risk of bankruptcy. The company sold 7,000 Bitcoin this year but bought about 170,000 Bitcoin on a net basis, increasing its total holdings by 25%, according to Le. It was up more than 14% for the week, while Bitcoin went down almost 3%. According to Grayscale mining ZEC became much more profitable than mining Bitcoin for the same electricity.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/zcash">ZEC's price</a> was trading near $1,155 as of writing. The move left ZEC as the top performer among large-cap cryptocurrencies this week, on a market capitalization of about $19.5 billion.&nbsp;The rally marked a third consecutive weekly gain and roughly doubled Zcash's price since mid-August 2025. The token's previous peak, set in early 2018, was around $800. Retail chatter around it remained in ‘low’ levels with platform data showing a rise in message volume up over 88% in a month.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Why Is Zcash Rallying?</h2>Grayscale said its Zcash fund (ZCSH) has raised some $179 million in 11 days of trading, lifting assets under management above $700 million and ZEC is up 59% since the launch of the ETP.&nbsp;The asset manager said its Zcash fund ranked in the top 1% of almost 4,000 exchange-traded products for net asset growth, and called it the fastest-growing altcoin ETP by net assets. The fund is sponsored by Grayscale and the numbers are the issuer’s own.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Zcash Mining Becomes More Profitable Than Bitcoin Per MWh</h2>Grayscale also estimated that Zcash miner rewards were about twice as high as Bitcoin's per mining rig per day and about four times higher per megawatt-hour, even though the machines are not interoperable. It said mining Zcash is currently more profitable per MWh than some AI and HPC cloud services.Grayscale said that the total amount of Zcash mining has risen by more than 2.5 times this year. They explained that higher token prices encourage more mining, which makes the network safer and may help keep prices high.Grayscale also said that Bitcoin's daily miner rewards are around $35 million, while Zcash's are around $2 million. The Zcash pot is small and set, so as more miners join, they all make less. Two odd-ball price categories, portfolio management fees and flash memory, make up about 60% of the gap between core price index (CPI) and core personal consumption expenditures (PCE), Lee said, which helps explain why the Fed's preferred inflation measure looks hotter than the inflation households actually feel.Speaking in&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpdPhN7aZYA">an interview</a> with Wealthion, published Friday, Lee said, "I think economists are fighting last year's wars.” Lee said adviser fees are charged as a percentage of assets, so they rise when markets rise. PCE counts them, whereas CPI barely does. "The average American doesn't actually think there's inflation just because the stock market went up and they have to pay their advisor more money," Lee said.&nbsp;Lee said Chip prices have also spiked, which shows up in PCE but not CPI. “Is the average American saying inflation went up on me because flash memory prices are going through the roof?” “No, of course not,” he added. "Strip both out," Lee said, "and core CPI is close enough to the Fed's target that aggressive tightening isn't needed."<h2 class="st-heading-2">Fundstrat’s 2% Bitcoin Bet Grows To 85%</h2>Lee said in a statement that a 2% Bitcoin (BTC) position the firm suggested more than a decade ago is now held by more than 85% of the average client account that followed the suggestion.&nbsp;Lee said the increase was due solely to price appreciation, not additional purchases. "Our original recommendation for a 2% position, for the average account for Fund Strat that actually took our advice, is now over 85% of their portfolio," he said. According to Lee, his clients did not buy more Bitcoin. They held the 2%, “and Bitcoin's gone up a lot in price.”Lee said that about 80% to 90% of retail investors have no exposure to crypto, with many holding gold instead. The choice before them was simple, added Lee. This rally has been going on for 6 weeks, which, he said, means the bottom has already been hit.&nbsp;In terms of rules, Lee said that the CLARITY Act is not necessary. In any case, the only two agencies that are involved are the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He said the legislation would make the CFTC the primary crypto regulator. BTC</h2><a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/bitcoin">Bitcoin's price</a> was trading around $77,300, while&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/ethereum">Ethereum's price</a> was near $2,532 as of writing. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around Ethereum remained in the ‘bearish’ zone, with ‘normal’ chatter levels over the past day. In contrast, retail sentiment around Bitcoin dropped to ‘extremely bearish’ from the bearish zone, accompanied by ‘low’ chatter levels over the past day.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Analyst Eyes $3000 Amid Bitcoin’s Weakness</h2>Bitcoin's weakness came with roughly 1 million BTC sitting in a long-term holder cost basis band between $84,000 and $87,000, according to supply distribution data. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) was up 3.4% year over year. According to the CME FedWatch tool, now over 87% of markets are pricing in an upcoming rate hike of 375-400 bps. Earlier this week, Glassnode data showed Bitcoin&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/cryptocurrency/why-is-xrp-outperforming-bitcoin-today/cZt72CfRJzQ">spot momentum</a> fell 30% over the past week. Spot volumes were stable at $5.3 billion, and the spot cumulative delta improved to -$29.6 million from -$84.9 million.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Bitcoin Yet To Reclaim 80K</h2>Bitcoin has been struggling to break past its current support level of $81,000, which it reached in the first week of September, and has been down over 3% since then. The most recent macro catalyst was August’s non-farm payrolls data showing 162,000 jobs added, three times the forecast. Oracle Reportedly Expands Restructuring Plan by $700M As AI Data Center Costs Mount

It affects about 1 in 10,000 births and roughly 10,000 people in the United States.<h2 class="st-heading-2">A First For Muscle Loss</h2>Isembyld is the first SMA medicine aimed at muscle itself rather than the nerve cells that control it. It is cleared for patients aged two and older who already take certain existing SMA drugs. Those older medicines help keep motor nerves alive, but many patients still lose strength. Isembyld blocks myostatin, a protein that normally limits muscle growth. It is given by vein every four weeks.In a one-year study of 188 patients ages two to 21 who could not walk on their own, Isembyld-treated patients improved on a standard motor-function test while those on placebo declined. The main analysis covered 156 children ages two to 12 and found a 1.8-point average gain versus placebo. Among that group, 34.2% on the drug had a meaningful gain, versus 13.5% on placebo.Scholar Rock said commercial supply is ready and the U.S. launch begins immediately, with product shipping in the coming days. Isembyld is the company’s first and only approved drug.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Delayed Path To Approval</h2>This was Scholar Rock’s second try. The FDA rejected the first filing in September 2025, not because of problems with the drug’s trial results, but because of quality issues at a contract plant in Indiana, now owned by Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk, that handled the final filling of vials.Scholar Rock resubmitted in March 2026 and named a second U.S. plant as backup. After another poor inspection of the Indiana site this spring, the company dropped that plant and proceeded only with the alternate facility.In Europe, Scholar Rock <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/srrk-stock-gains-after-company-drops-troubled-novo-nordisk-owned-plant-from-fda-filing/cZY97AgRJVf">withdrew</a> its application in August over the same plant issue and plans to refile with the backup facility. Bitcoin Cash is a hard fork of Bitcoin with a protocol upgrade to fix on-chain capacity. Bitcoin Cash intends to be a Bitcoin without Segregated Witness (SegWit) as soft fork, where upgrades of the protocol are done mainly through hard forks and without changing the original economic rules of the Bitcoin.  Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is released on 1st August 2017 as an upgraded version of the original Bitcoin Core software. The main upgrade is the increase in the block size limit from 1MB to 8MB. This effectively allows miners on the BCH chain to process up to 8 times more payments per second in comparison to Bitcoin. This makes for faster, cheaper transactions and a much smoother user experience.  Why was Bitcoin Cash Created?  The main objective of Bitcoin Cash is to to bring back the essential qualities of money inherent in the original Bitcoin software. Over the years, these qualities were filtered out of Bitcoin Core and progress was stifled by various people, organizations, and companies involved in Bitcoin protocol development. The result is that Bitcoin Core is currently unusable as money due to increasingly high fees per transactions and transfer times taking hours to complete. This is all because of the 1MB limitation of Bitcoin Core’s block size, causing it unable to accommodate to large number of transactions.  Essentially Bitcoin Cash is a community-activated upgrade (otherwise known as a hard fork) of Bitcoin that increased the block size to 8MB, solving the scaling issues that plague Bitcoin Core today.
