OpenAI announced a major expansion of its product line on Tuesday, introducing a digital assistant named Dots, an updated artificial intelligence model, and a premium $500-per-month subscription tier.

The product launches and financing efforts follow OpenAI’s decision to delay its anticipated initial public offering (IPO) beyond 2026 to prioritize AI safety standards and navigate heightened regulatory concerns.

Next-Generation Digital Assistant And Pricing Tiers

The central reveal of Tuesday's event was "Dots," an always-on artificial intelligence agent built on the GPT-6 architecture and a direct competitor to Meta’s (META) Muse AI.

Dots can operate computer systems, perform analytical research, draft documents, and build software, OpenAI said at its developer conference.

Users can control the assistant via ChatGPT voice and text features, as well as integrated workplace applications like Slack and Microsoft Teams. Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman said internal software teams are already using the tool to resolve dozens of code bugs daily. Specialized Dots engineered for enterprise accounting, legal research, and digital marketing are currently undergoing tests.

Alongside the autonomous agent, OpenAI introduced a $500 monthly subscription tier with faster processing and expanded usage limits, while restructuring its standard $200 plan.

Delayed Public Debut Spurs $30 Billion Bridge Round

To support operations while postponing its Wall Street launch, OpenAI is negotiating a bridge funding round, Bloomberg reported. The proposed $30 billion raise would place the company’s valuation at $1.4 trillion pre-money, eclipsing its $852 billion valuation from a $122 billion funding round completed in March.

Altman characterized an immediate public listing as an "ill-advised moment," citing the need to fortify infrastructure and resolve security challenges before tapping public markets. The move leaves rival Anthropic PBC positioned for an earlier public debut, with its IPO anticipated as early as this fall.

Despite corporate delays, OpenAI's revenue momentum remains strong. Driven by high demand for developer tools and coding solutions, the company's annualized revenue run rate nears $70 billion, as per Reuters. ChatGPT’s active user base has also expanded to 1.2 billion weekly users, up from 1 billion earlier in the year.

Retail sentiment on Stocktwits on OpenAI was ‘neutral’ with ‘normal’ message volumes.
