Ribbon Communications Inc. (RBBN) announced on Wednesday that it has entered into a strategic collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services, the cloud computing arm of Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN).
The agreement is to develop a cloud-native, secure voice communications platform to accelerate network modernization for enterprises worldwide.
The partnership centers on building an integrated communications solution hosted on AWS infrastructure, enabling companies to transition voice workloads to the cloud at their own pace.
Ribbon said its offering is designed as a fully managed, cloud-native framework that connects with existing enterprise systems. Core components, including its SBC CNe, PSX policy and routing platform, and RAMP management system, have been tuned for AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service.
Ribbon Communications’ stock traded over 8% higher in Wednesday’s premarket. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around the stock remained in ‘bearish’ territory amid ‘normal’ message volume levels.
The companies expect the arrangement to deliver expanded geographic reach, operational agility, and cloud-based cost efficiencies for customers who are in the process of digital transformation.
"Ribbon's cloud-native Session Border Controller and SIP routing engine available on AWS Marketplace enables telecommunications providers and enterprises to deploy secure voice communications with the scalability, automation, and cost efficiency of the cloud.”
