He reportedly said that the U.S. is in “deep negotiations” with Iran in order to reach a deal before the deadline expires.&nbsp;Crude oil prices dipped following the news, with Brent crude oil prices down 0.68% on the day and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices down 1.38% The&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/USO">United States Oil Fund (USO)</a> dipped 0.77% in pre-market trade, with retail sentiment falling to ‘bearish’ from ‘neutral’ territory over the past day. Chatter remained at ‘high’ levels.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Retail Traders Flag ‘Bull Trap’ Risks</h2>Many users on the platforms expressed caution. Bitcoin Nears $70K On US-Iran Ceasefire Talks, $270 Million Shorts Wiped Out

Cardano and Ethereum outperformed Bitcoin in the last 24 hours, leading gains among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization on Monday morning.

Bitcoin Falls Below $67,000 After Oil Spikes, Trump's Iran Warning Rattles Risk Assets

The broader cryptocurrency market fell below $2.4 trillion, with more than $350 million liquidated in the last 24 hours.

However, the 365-day moving average remained elevated at 87.5%.CryptoQuant analyst Axel Adler Jr. noted that a full market reset is normally marked by a sharp decline in the 365-day average. During the 2018–2019 cycle, that metric fell to 63.8% before the crypto winter set in. “The current picture is different,” he wrote.&nbsp;According to him, the market is experiencing severe internal compression in profitability, but it is still far from a true structural reset. “As long as the long-term average holds near 87.5%, this is better described as a prolonged cyclical correction with elevated two-way volatility, rather than a full bearish-phase reset,” Adler wrote.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Short Covering Supports Bitcoin Price, Not Fresh Demand</h2>JDK Analysis also suggested that Bitcoin may be showing a false show of strength. It noted that spot markets are seeing active selling, while futures data showed aggressive buying largely driven by short covering rather than new long positions, which has helped keep prices supported near current levels.&nbsp;In a&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/The_JDK99/status/2039250945788325909?s=20">post</a> on X, JDK said that as short positions unwind, the temporary bid supporting prices could fade, leaving the market exposed to continued selling pressure. The last time was from August 2018 to January 2019, dubbed once one of the most brutal crypto winters the market has seen.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Crypto Liquidations Top $450 Million In 24 Hours</h2>The drop in Bitcoin’s price and the overall cryptocurrency market falling below $2.4 trillion triggered over $450 million liquidations, with $400 million in long bets wiped out over the last 24 hours. Bitcoin led the liquidation wave with $183 million of forced unwinds, followed by Ethereum (ETH) at $124 million.&nbsp;Among the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, Solana (SOL) and Cardano (ADA) took a bigger hit than Bitcoin.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/solana">Solana’s price</a> dropped more than 5% to around $83 while&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/coins/cardano">Cardano’s price</a> fell 4.5% to around $0.24. Progress toward a deal, potentially involving broader international mediation, could help stabilize energy markets and reduce hedging demand.
