T-Mobile (TMUS) announced on Monday that it has named Srini Gopalan, its current Chief Operating Officer, as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2025.

The company said that Gopalan will assume the role from Mike Sievert, who has been appointed to a newly created management position as T-Mobile’s Vice Chairman.

Retail sentiment on T-Mobile remained unchanged in the ‘bearish’ territory, with message volumes at ‘low’ levels, according to data from Stocktwits. Shares of the company were down nearly 1% in premarket trading.

T-Mobile said that as Vice Chairman, Sievert will continue in a management role and on the board to support the company’s new CEO and the leadership team. Sievert would be advising on matters of long-term strategy, innovation, talent development, and external relations.

“When I recruited Srini to be our COO, I knew he had the skills, experience and Un-carrier mindset to lead our company into the future,” Sievert said.

He added, “Srini has been an incredible partner in shaping the future of T-Mobile as well as instrumental in leading our record growth this year and driving initiatives to serve customers in new ways and win them for life.”

The company said that Gopalan has been working alongside Sievert and T-Mobile’s leadership team to deliver results, while completing multiple acquisitions that bring new 5G and fiber network access to communities across the country.

Before T-Mobile, he was the CEO of Deutsche Telekom’s Germany business and previously held senior leadership roles at Bharti Airtel, Capital One, and Vodafone.

Shares of T-Mobile were up nearly 8% this year and have gained about 18% in the last 12 months.
