Nokia CEO Justin Hotard said AI data centers could be built twice as fast if the industry were not facing supply constraints, reinforcing his view that the AI infrastructure boom remains in its early stages. Hotard said customers would accelerate construction if they could, pointing to memory-chip shortages and limited energy supplies as key constraints. Nokia has positioned itself as a “picks and shovels” provider for AI infrastructure, supplying technology that connects chips within data centers and links facilities across locations. Its stock has gained roughly 130% over the past year. Hotard also said AI demand does not depend entirely on new frontier models from companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI. Even without another major model release for three years, he believes companies could generate substantial demand simply by deploying the AI systems already available. $NOK
