A little-known Nasdaq microcap suddenly became one of retail traders’ hottest quantum bets on Tuesday. Shares of QTREX Quantum (QTEX) skyrocketed in premarket trading after the company disclosed ongoing collaboration talks with an unnamed top-five global quantum computing company.
Retail chatter exploded on Stocktwits, with message volume jumping more than 440% in 24 hours. And the retail sentiment surrounding the stock has improved to ‘bullish’ from ‘neutral’ while message volume increased to ‘high’ from ‘low’ over the past week.
At the time of writing, QTEX shares gained over 140% premarket on Tuesday. The renewed interest also comes at a time when quantum stocks saw an explosive rally last week after President Donald Trump’s administration announced a grant of $2 billion for IBM and companies in the quantum computing space.
One user on Stocktwits expects volatility for the stock as it chases the $5 mark.
While another user highlighted the momentum towards the quantum space.
One more user pointed out the trading volumes of the stock and expected the stock to hit $2.50 today.
Last week, QTREX announced it is in advanced discussions with one of the top five global quantum computing companies for a strategic collaboration that has already moved into a joint technical evaluation phase.
The company stated that engineering and integration teams from both sides are actively testing QTREX's proprietary AME-based interconnect components inside the partner's cryogenic refrigerator architecture.
If a definitive agreement is reached, QTREX's platform would serve as the foundational cryogenic interconnect technology across the partner's forward quantum hardware roadmap, embedding the company as a critical supplier with revenue scaling alongside the partner's global deployment trajectory, the company noted.
Formerly known as Inspira Technologies (IINN), the company rebranded itself to QTREX Quantum and adopted the new ticker symbol QTEX on May 20.
The rebrand reflected a pivot away from the company's medical technology domain, it previously focused on advanced respiratory support and real-time blood monitoring solutions. The company now focuses on Additively Manufactured Electronics (AME) and quantum connectivity infrastructure.
QTREX says its AME platform targets one of quantum computing's critical hardware bottlenecks: connectivity inside dilution cryostats, where traditional wiring architectures add heat, noise, and mechanical complexity as systems scale.
