U.S. stock futures were lower early Tuesday as investors kicked off September cautiously after a strong August.
Tensions remain elevated after President Trump ruled out nuclear action against Iran, calling it “totally defeated militarily,” while oil prices pushed higher. However, he has continued to threaten further action against Iran, while saying the U.S. is still getting ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
As of 4:30 a.m. ET, Nasdaq futures were down 0.6%, while S&P 500, Dow and Russell 2000 futures were down 0.3%.

On Stocktwits, retail sentiment for the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), an exchange-traded fund that tracks the S&P 500 Index, has remained ‘bullish’, and Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ), which tracks the Nasdaq-100 Index, has remained ‘neutral’.
10-year Treasury yield surged to 4.7%, reaching its highest level since January 2025 despite Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent defending U.S. debt performance.
Nvidia (NVDA): Reports suggest that Anthropic has signed a $35 billion cloud deal with Nvidia-backed Lambda. Meanwhile, Hut 8 (HUT) shares rose 2% in early premarket trade on news of a 700MW Texas data center campus, leased by Nvidia, that will host Lambda’s compute infrastructure for Anthropic.
