(MU) fell more than 2.5% in Wednesday’s post-market session despite the company’s second-quarter (Q2) 2025 earnings results that blew past Wall Street expectations.The memory chip-maker’s revenue nearly tripled to $23.86 billion from $8.05 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Meanwhile, analysts had forecast a revenue of $19.18 billion, according to Fiscal.ai. Earnings also beat consensus estimates, coming in at $12.20 per diluted share, compared to a Street projection of $8.66 per share.However, retail users on Stocktwits flagged that the strong earnings results were expected, while also voicing concerns over the company’s high capital expenditure.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Capital Expenditure</h2>Micron posted capital expenditures of $5 billion for the quarter, an increase of about 62% from the same period last year. For the upcoming quarter, the company projected capex of about $7 billion, and said full-year 2026 capital spending would be above $25 billion.President and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said in a call with investors that the higher capex comes as the company builds out its global manufacturing sites to address long-term demand. Micron also expects higher equipment expenditures in fiscal 2027, he said.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Memory Supply Tightness</h2>Mehrotra said Micron’s record results were attributable to an increase in memory demand, driven by AI and structural supply constraints.He added that while additional server demand was robust, driven by a combination of demand from Agentic AI and broad-based servers, both segments were constrained by lack of adequate Dram and Nand supply. &nbsp;“Memory makes AI smarter and more capable, enabling longer context windows, deeper reasoning chains, and multi-agent orchestration, as AI evolves. We expect compute architectures to become more memory intensive. This is why we strongly believe that Micron is one of the biggest beneficiaries, and enablers of AI,” Mehrotra said.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Q3 Outlook</h2>For the third-quarter (Q3) of 2026, Micron forecast revenue of about $33.5 billion, plus or minus $750 million. Analysts projected revenue of $22.48 billion, according to Fiscal.ai. Intel Draws Mixed Street Reaction After Strong Q4 But Cautious 2026 Outlook 

UBS raised its target to $52 from $49, with a ‘Neutral’ rating, citing supply bottlenecks and structural limitations that may constrain Intel’s AI growth potential.

(INTC) slid over 12% in Thursday’s after-market hours as the company provided a soft outlook for the first-quarter (Q1) 2026 in its latest earnings update.Intel’s fourth-quarter (Q4) results, however, beat analyst expectations, reporting higher-than-expected revenue and earnings per share.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Results Snapshot</h2>Intel reported Q4 revenue of $13.7 billion, down 4% year-on-year, but beating analyst expectations of $13.3 billion, as per data from Fiscal.ai. The company’s earnings per share also beat estimates, coming in at $0.15 versus street estimates of $0.08.Meanwhile, the company’s full-year revenue for 2025 came in at $52.9 billion, beating street consensus of $52.5 billion.“We delivered a solid finish to the year and made progress on our journey to build a new Intel. The introduction of our first products on Intel 18A – the most advanced process technology developed and manufactured in the United States – marks an important milestone, and we’re working aggressively to grow supply to meet strong customer demand,” said Lip-Bu Tan, Intel’s CEO.However, the company’s outlook for Q1 2026 came in below street expectations. Intel projected a revenue of $11.7 billion to $12.7 billion, with the lower-end of the projection coming in much below street expectations of $12.5 billion, as per Fiscal.ai data.The chipmaker also projected earnings per share to be nil in the upcoming quarter, versus a street expectation of $0.05.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Supply Constraints</h2>The company attributed the lower guidance to chip supply constraints, expected to be at its lowest level in Q1. “As we enter 2026, our buffer inventory is depleted and the mix shift in wafers towards servers, which began in Q3, will not come out of fab until late Q1 26,” said Dave Zinsner, Intel’s Chief Financial Officer, during the earnings call.“As a result, and as we stated last quarter, our internal supply constraints are most acute in Q1,” he said.
