Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. RIVN Stock Gains 4% Pre-Market After TD Cowen Upgrade: Analyst Sees Strong Demand For Upcoming R2 Models

Rivian Automotive Inc. (RIVN) received a vote of confidence from TD Cowen, which upgraded the electric vehicle maker’s stock to a ‘Buy’ rating from ‘Hold’ while lifting its price target.

Vehicle sales generated $4.52 billion in revenue during the quarter, marking an 81% increase from Q4 of 2024. Vehicle margins improved to more than 18% in Q4, compared to around 13% last year.Nio expects first-quarter total revenue in a range of $3.50 billion and $3.60 billion, representing a growth of around 103% to 109%.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Nio Expects 90% To 97% Increase In Q1 Deliveries</h2>During the fourth quarter, NIO recorded a 72% increase in EV deliveries.&nbsp;“In the fourth quarter of 2025, the company delivered 124,807 smart electric vehicles, representing a year-over-year increase of 71.7%, with quarterly deliveries of our NIO, ONVO, and FIREFLY brands each reaching record highs,” said William Bin Li, Chairman and CEO of NIO.&nbsp;“We expect total deliveries in the first quarter of 2026 to be between 80,000 and 83,000 units, representing a year-over-year increase of 90.1% to 97.2%.”Last month, NIO and its unit GeniTech Co (Shenji) signed agreements with several investors in China to raise more than RMB2 billion in cash through the issuance of new Shenji shares. The systems will be deployed in EVTV’s liquid-immersion-cooled modular container platform.The deployment will test power efficiency, cooling performance, uptime, and compute economics under continuous workloads. Azio added that the initial payment has been received in full, with delivery expected in the coming weeks.<h2 class="st-heading-2">AZIO Acquisition Update</h2>Envirotech reaffirmed its progress toward strategic alignment with AZIO AI. The companies signed an amended non-binding letter of intent under which EVTV would acquire AZIO AI through a merger, making it a wholly owned subsidiary. The proposed deal, which values AZIO AI at $480 million, remains subject to due diligence, regulatory approvals, and shareholder approval.Envirotech Vehicles also updated shareholders on a Nasdaq compliance issue, stating it is procedural and tied to completing routine annual proxy requirements. This represents a 64% upside to the stock’s $14 closing price on Thursday. The brokerage highlighted early signs of an improving outlook, noting that Rivian’s 2026 trajectory appears “de-risked,” supported by achievable volume expectations and continued progress in reducing vehicle costs.Deutsche noted that Rivian’s R2 vehicle launch is on track for Q2, while competitors are “slow-walking” their EV transitions. The firm also believes the stock offers an attractive risk-reward profile.<h2 class="st-heading-2">UBS Turns Less Bearish On Rivian</h2>Meanwhile, UBS upgraded Rivian to ‘Neutral’ from ‘Sell’ and raised its price target to $16 from $15. Including domestic sales and exports, wholesale volume reached 69,129 units, up 9.3% year-on-year but nearly 29% lower than December.Model Y wholesale sales rose about 21% from last year to 38,916 units, though they fell sharply from the prior month. Model 3 volumes totalled 30,213 units, edging slightly lower both annually and sequentially.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Challenging Market Conditions</h2>January is typically a slow month for China’s auto market, but broader industry trends also weighed on demand. Total new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales fell 20% to 596,000 units, while battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales declined 17%. Tesla holds around 3.1% of the NEV market and 5.3% of the BEV segment, according to the report.Policy changes, including a new 5% purchase tax and reduced trade-in subsidies, have further cooled consumer interest.Tesla is also facing pressure outside China. January registrations dropped 42% in France and 88% in Norway, a historically strong market for Tesla.
