The declines came despite the “Aurora Driver” Level 4 self-driving systems provider receiving a bullish recommendation from an analyst.Morgan Stanley analyst Ravi Shanker initiated&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/AUR">Auroro Innovation stock&nbsp;</a>with an ‘Overweight’ rating and a $12 price target, suggesting nearly 73% upside potential from current levels.The analyst said that as trucking finally appears to be on the cusp of an autonomous future, Aurora is leading the charge with the “most sophisticated on-highway Class 8 autonomous solution among peers.”Shanker sees the April rollout of commercial driverless operation as a key milestone for the company and the industry, unlocking a strong runway for earnings growth.&nbsp;The market is only now taking note of Aurora Innovation’s leadership, and has sent the stock up over three times in the last nine months, he added.The analyst said, “This is just the beginning if our view of the opportunity runway ahead materializes.”While&nbsp;Shanker believes the market will likely be divided among several players over time, he&nbsp;noted that Aurora Innovation’s leadership could give it an insurmountable lead over peers. He also feels the total addressable market is big enough to feed several healthy players over time.Morgan Stanley estimates the company’s enterprise value&nbsp;to be $15 billion based on its 15-year discounted cash flow model.&nbsp;That said, the firm cautioned regarding execution risk that will likely remain until the start of the commercial production. Aurora Innovation, Inc. ($AUR) shares climbed sharply early Tuesday as traders reacted to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based company’s announcement regarding a long-term partnership with Nvidia Corp. ($NVDA) and Contential for deploying driverless trucks at scale.The announcement was made in conjunction with the Computer Electronics Show (CES) being held in Las Vegas.Aurora Innovation provides an SAE L4 self-driving system called Aurora Driver, designed to operate in multiple vehicle types.&nbsp;The company is in the final stages of validating&nbsp; Aurora Driver for driverless operations on public roads. Fuel-cell electric vehicle maker Nikola Corp, on Friday, announced its second-quarter earnings that surpassed analyst estimates on multiple counts pushing the stock higher by 7%.The firm reported an earnings loss of $2.67 per share, which more than halved from the loss of $5.90 recorded in the same quarter a year ago and beat an estimated loss of $2.77. Its net loss came down to $133.67 million versus $140 million in the second quarter of last year.Total revenue nearly doubled to $31.32 million on a year-over-year (YoY) basis and topped an estimate of $26.20 million. This is the strongest topline recorded by the firm ever, jumping 318% on a quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) basis.Following the announcement, retail sentiment on Stocktwits flipped into the ‘bullish’ territory (67/100) from the ‘bearish’ zone a day ago. Nikola disclosed that it produced 77 trucks during the quarter, more than double the number in the same period a year ago. The firm shipped 73 trucks versus 43 in Q2 of 2023. The firm also received repeat orders from two national accounts.Interestingly, the company said it created alternative revenue streams from the sale of regulatory credits. “We recognized our first sale agreement of NOx and PM credits in the quarter. We expect this revenue stream to grow as volume increases each model year,” the firm stated.Notably, from its highs in 2020, the stock has lost over 99% of its value. However, at current levels of about $8, retail investors believe there could be attractive upside potential.
