Nestle SA (NSRGY) U.S.-listed shares jumped nearly 9% in early trading on Thursday after the consumer goods giant announced a planned global headcount reduction of 16,000 over the next two years.The company said that the job cuts include 12,000 white-collar professionals across functions and geographies, driving annual savings of CHF 1 billion ($1.26 billion) by the end of 2027 and a further 4,000 headcount reduction as part of ongoing productivity initiatives in manufacturing and supply chain.“The world is changing, and Nestlé needs to change faster. This will include making hard but necessary decisions to reduce headcount over the next two years,” CEO Philipp Navratil said.“We will do this with respect and transparency. Along with other measures, we are working to substantially reduce our costs, and today we are increasing our savings target to CHF 3.0 billion by the end of 2027,” he added.Navratil was appointed as the CEO in September, replacing Laurent Freixe. The company had said the departure of Freixe followed an investigation into an undisclosed romantic relationship with a direct subordinate, which breached Nestle’s code of business conduct.Retail sentiment on <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/NSRGY">Nestle</a> improved to ‘neutral’ from ‘bearish’ territory a day ago, with message volumes at ‘normal’ levels, according to data from Stocktwits.Meanwhile, as part of its third-quarter results, the company said it expects to deliver free cash flow (FCF) above CHF 8 billion in 2025.&nbsp;Nestle also noted that organic sales growth in fiscal 2025 is expected to improve compared to 2024, and momentum remains positive sequentially. Nestle’s US-listed Shares Rally On Plans To Reduce 16,000 Global Jobs Over Two Years

Nestle SA, one of the world's largest consumer packaged food companies, said it plans to cut 16,000 roles, or about 5.8% of its current global workforce, as it increases its cost-saving target over the next two years.The cuts will impact about 12,000 white-collar professionals across functions and geographies, and an additional 4,000 positions will be eliminated through productivity initiatives in manufacturing and supply chain.The move will generate annual cost savings of 1 billion Swiss francs (approximately $1.25 billion) by the end of 2027. The company now aims for 3 billion Swiss francs in yearly savings, up from 2.5 billion Swiss francs earlier."We have been stepping up investment... and the results are starting to come through. Nestle To Cut Nearly 6% Roles To Save Costs: Retail Mood Bearish

The Swiss packaged food giant reported a 3.3% organic revenue growth for the first nine months of 2025, largely driven by price increases.

Nestlé garnered retail attention late on Monday after the company fired its CEO, Laurent Freixe, over an undisclosed romantic relationship with an employee.The Swiss food products giant also named Philipp Navratil, the head of its Nespresso coffee brand, as its new chief executive with immediate effect.The KitKat maker stated that Frexie’s departure followed the company's investigation into an “undisclosed romantic relationship with a direct subordinate which breached Nestlé's Code of Business Conduct.” Chairman Paul Bulcke and Lead Independent Director Pablo Isla oversaw the investigation with the support of independent outside counsel."This was a necessary decision. Nestlé's values and governance are strong foundations of our company. I thank Laurent for his years of service at Nestlé," Bulcke said.According to a Bloomberg News <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-01/nestle-dismisses-ceo-freixe-over-relationship-with-subordinate">report</a>, citing a person familiar with the matter, the relationship was brought to the notice of Nestle hierarchy through the company’s whistleblower program called “speak up.”The report further states that the allegations couldn’t be substantiated through an initial probe, and further concerns were raised through the internal system afterward, leading to the launch of the investigation with external counsel.
