UPI services down; users face payment issues nationwide

New Delhi, April 1 : Digital payment services faced disruption across India on Wednesday, leaving many users unable to complete transactions through UPI platforms. According to outage tracking platform Downdetector, complaints surged sharply during the day -- indicating a widespread issue. The impact appeared significant on State Bank of India, which saw over 500 outage reports, while UCO Bank recorded around 40 complaints. Overall, UPI-related downtime reports also crossed 40, with numbers continuing to rise as more users flagged issues. The disruption was not limited to a single region, with users from cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jaipur and Pune reporting failed transactions and payment errors. In the case of SBI, the outage appeared more widespread, with complaints also coming in from Kolkata, Guwahati and Chennai. Meanwhile, UCO Bank users facing issues were largely concentrated in New Delhi, Jaipur and Kolkata. Many users took to X to share their experience. While some expressed frustration over failed payments, others were unsure whether the issue was with their bank or their own devices.

The long-awaited inventory of valuables stored in the Ratna Bhandar of Puri Srimandir will begin on Wednesday under stringent security arrangements. According to officials, an auspicious time between 12:09 PM and 1:45 PM has been fixed for the entry of the inventory team into the Ratna Bhandar. The counting and verification process of the precious ornaments and valuables will be carried out within this time window under a multi-layered security cover. The exercise will include videography, photography, and 3D mapping to ensure proper documentation of the valuables. Initially, the movable items in the treasure trove of the 12th century shrine will be taken up for counting and verification. The process will be cross-checked with the detailed inventory list prepared during the last assessment conducted in 1978. As per the standard procedure, gold ornaments will be wrapped in yellow velvet cloth and placed in tin boxes before being secured in chests. Silver ornaments will be wrapped in white or silver-coloured cloth, while other valuables will be covered in red velvet fabric for preservation.
