Vedanta has come under scrutiny after reports emerged that the Singapore Police Force (SPF) is reviewing a complaint on how the Indian conglomerate funded its 2024 dividend.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/VEDL.NSE">Vedanta’s shares</a> closed at ₹455.75, having been bound in a tight intra-day range.What Is The Allegation?The SPF is reviewing the allegations made by U.S.-based short seller Viceroy Research that Vedanta improperly funded its 2024 dividend, according to a report by Reuters.Viceroy claimed that Vedanta used a $900 million loan from Oaktree Capital Management, along with accounting adjustments, to artificially boost its reserves and finance the payout. The short seller alleged that the company later repaid the loan and reversed write-offs through entities based in Singapore.Viceroy has maintained that its findings are based on publicly available reports, forensic analyses of company filings, and site visits.This comes on the back of another Viceroy report, which accused Vedanta Resources, the UK-based parent that owns 56% of Vedanta, of draining resources from its Indian unit. It also alleged that Vedanta’s dividend policy was structured to serve the parent company’s financing needs.Vedanta had dismissed those claims.Vedanta’s ResponseVedanta has firmly rejected the allegations, calling them “baseless” and “malicious.” The company told Reuters that all dividends were paid in full compliance with applicable laws. It clarified that no official investigation by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) was underway, nor had it been contacted by the SPF.In response to the Viceroy’s claims, Vedanta said the reports were ill-informed and deliberately misleading. The SPF, when contacted, declined to comment on the matter, according to reports.Demerger ChallengesBack home, Vedanta has come under pressure after the Indian government raised objections to its demerger plan at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) meeting on Wednesday. Vedanta Under Scrutiny Again Over Dividend Funding As Singapore Police Reviews Complaint: Report

Shares of Vedanta fell on Friday after the company announced it had been declared the preferred bidder for the Punnam Manganese Block in Andhra Pradesh, as investors weighed the long timeline involving further drilling, regulatory approvals, and heavy investment before any commercial output.Auction Win DetailsThe manganese block spans 152 hectares and is classified at the G4 reconnaissance stage of exploration. Vedanta secured the status through a live e-auction process under a state tender floated on July 10.&nbsp;The company said a composite licence will only be granted once it fulfils several conditions, including submitting a performance bank guarantee, completing other tender requirements, obtaining approvals and clearances from government departments, and signing formal agreements.Analyst ViewSEBI-registered analyst&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/Japfinserve">Varunkumar Patel</a> said that manganese is essential for steelmaking and is also gaining importance in certain lithium-ion battery technologies, making the Punnam block strategically valuable, despite its relatively small size.&nbsp;<stembedurl>https://stocktwits.com/Japfinserve/message/629243276</stembedurl>At 152 hectares and still at the early G4 reconnaissance stage, he noted the block is unlikely to add meaningfully to Vedanta’s revenues any time soon.Patel explained that moving toward commercial production will require further rounds of exploration, a series of regulatory approvals, and heavy capital investment, a process that could take several quarters or even years.Technical ViewPatel said Vedanta’s stock was trading around ₹456.5 on Friday, almost flat with its intraday VWAP (volume-weighted average price) of ₹456.56.&nbsp;He pegged immediate resistance at ₹465, with a break above opening the way toward ₹480 and possibly the 52-week high zone near ₹525. On the downside, support sits at ₹451 and then at ₹440–₹444. Vedanta Lands Manganese Block In Andhra Pradesh Auction – SEBI Analyst Says Revenue Impact Is Years Away 

The manganese block spans 152 hectares and is still at an early exploration stage, with further drilling, regulatory approvals, and heavy investment needed before any commercial output. 

Vedanta shares rose 2% on Monday after its wholly owned subsidiary Talwandi Sabo Power (TSPL) settled a long-standing dispute with the Chinese firm, SEPCO Electric Power Construction Corporation.In a regulatory filing on the BSE on Friday, the company stated that it had reached an agreement on disputes related to the EPC contracts for setting up a 3x660 MW Thermal Power Project.&nbsp;Post this agreement,&nbsp;SEPCO has withdrawn its arbitration claims, clearing a legal obstacle for Vedanta.&nbsp;The other news development that traders and investors will be tracking is Vedanta’s demerger, which is now expected by the end of September, a revision from the initial March target.&nbsp;Last month,&nbsp;the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) deferred the hearing on the proposed demerger to September 17 after the government raised some concerns over the demerger. Additionally, the market regulator was still verifying Vedanta's compliance with applicable regulatory norms.Vedanta’s Ambitious Demerger PlansThe Anil-Agarwal-led mining conglomerate is looking to split the group into five sector-focused listed companies, but execution has faced hurdles, and deadlines have been postponed multiple times. The demerger was first announced in September 2023. Each Vedanta shareholder will receive one share of each newly listed entity for every share held in Vedanta.The&nbsp; Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has raised concerns about concealed information and undisclosed liabilities relating to the oil and gas business. Indian equity markets opened on a positive note as hopes of improved ties between the US and India revived investor sentiment. US President Donald Trump said that there is "nothing to worry about" regarding the U.S.-India relationship, stating he will always remain friends with Prime Minister Modi. India echoed this sentiment.&nbsp;At 10:00 a.m. IST, the&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/NIFTY50.NSE">Nifty 50</a> traded 75 points higher at 24,815, while the Sensex was up 212 points at 80,923.
