Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. <ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Industrial demand and the tightening supply of physical silver have led to a surge in prices.</li><li>Spot gold price was up 0.12% at $4,213.6 per ounce.</li><li>The U.S. dollar index (DXY) was little changed at 99.&nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp;Silver’s smashing rally has sparked yet another milestone as spot prices breached past $59 per ounce for the first time, a run that has seen the precious metal scale fresh peaks in four of the last six sessions.On Friday, the precious metal hit an all-time high of $59.34, resulting in a 100% year-to-date return.The run began last Friday, as spot silver climbed past $55 an ounce for the first time, buoyed by a weak dollar as traders bet on a potential interest rate cut in December. The pair has benefited from a weaker dollar, rising expectations of a rate cut this month following dovish comments by Fed officials, and weaker post-shutdown economic data.Data from the CME FedWatch tool showed an 87.2% probability of a 25-basis-point rate cut at the December 10 meeting. A week back, the figure stood slightly lower at 86.4%.Last month, Deutsche Bank raised its 2026 gold forecast, expecting prices to reach $4,450 per ounce, up from its previous estimate of $4,000 per ounce. Silver Blasts Above $59, Extending a Record Rally That Has Doubled Prices in 2025

He highlighted Bitcoin’s digital, portable, and divisible nature, noting that while it exists only as a record on the blockchain, it still holds value through widespread trust and usage. “Google has value. Twitter has value. Many virtual things have value,” he added, stating that Bitcoin’s virtual form does not reduce its worth.Schiff countered, comparing Binance to a casino and saying many retail participants are “suckered” by hype and speculative gains. “You’re running a pretty big casino,” Schiff said. He argued that digital assets provide financial access previously unavailable in many parts of the world, offering utility beyond speculation.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Bitcoin’s Role As Money</h2>Schiff stated that Bitcoin fails basic monetary functions. “It’s not a unit of account. It’s not used to pay for goods or services. Silver Extends Blistering Rally With Yet Another Record High

On Friday, spot silver climbed past $55 an ounce for the first time, buoyed by a weak dollar as traders bet on a potential interest rate cut on December 10. The rally continued on Monday with silver climbing above $58 per ounce.

The XAG/USD pair rose to an all-time high of $58.95 an ounce on Wednesday before paring some of the gains.

This has led to a sharp decline in “free-float” inventory, in which the metal is not tied to exchange-traded funds (ETFs), leases, or industrial contracts. As availability decreased, the cost of borrowing, known as the lease rate, jumped sharply, putting pressure on traders.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Gold And The Greenback</h2>Spot gold was up 0.5% at $4,237.5 per ounce on Monday, while gold futures for February 2026 delivery rose around 0.4%. The metal is trading well above its 50-DMA.On the other hand, the dollar slid yet again, with the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) falling back to its 50-DMA for the first time since October 17.&nbsp;It has declined in five of the last six sessions.
