I have first-hand experience with crappy SATCOM links in austere environments with restricted power.    
 
A ping request on a SATCOM link was over 1300ms when I was in such environments, over 15 years ago.  I&#39;m not sure what it is today.  But I can imagine that things haven&#39;t changed much.

A ping request on a SATCOM link was over 1300ms when I was in such environments, over 15 years ago.  I'm not sure what it is today.  But I can imagine that things haven't changed much.

@B_A_  LEO has 50ms latency so it has changed a lot.  Speeds are higher too.  Starlink mini specs look promising.
