Congress: Make Gensler’s Salary $1

Tom Emmer, crypto’s knight in shining armor in Congress, is making moves to put the SEC’s crypto crackdown on ice. 🧊

He’s slipped an amendment into the federal budget that basically tells the SEC to put their enforcement ambitions on hold until Congress says otherwise. The amendment sailed through without a peep of opposition but still has to survive the budget brawl in the reconciliation committee.

Meanwhile,  Representative Tim Burchett took a jab at Gensler’s wallet, proposing to slash his salary to a single buck. 💵

In the backdrop of budget talks, Mike Johnson, the House’s new head honcho, is dusting off some crypto legislation. The lineup includes acts that could shape the future of blockchain and stablecoins and even one that says, “Hands off my crypto!”

On the Senate side, Ted Budd is championing the “Keep Your Coins Act,” fighting for our right to self-custody wallets. Let’s see what remains after the budget battle ends. ☠️
